Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. IU...

Indiana just proved that discipline and execution beat 'talent' every time.

If Bama had been able / allowed to play to potential the score likely would have been the opposite.

But Indiana, despite having lesser talent across the board, out-performed and out-executed Bama all night long.

Kudos to the Hoosiers for an excellently executed game plan.
To your point, Coach DeBoer is a PAC 10 type coach. Cignetti is 2011-12 vintage Saban. DeBoer is not changing. I hope they do not extend his contract.

I disagree. Bama was made to look weaker, slower, etc due to Indiana's superior discipline and execution.

They've done this all year. I assume Bana would show up and play well enough for the Jimmys and Joes to make the difference, but I was wrong.

They simply out-executed Bama. They've done this all year.
You're right, but this version of BAMA was definitely soft. There just didn't seem to be the usual toughness to fight back.

So Saban finishes up 12-2 , SEC champions and he’s slipping.

Two 4 loss seasons in a row by DeBoer and it’s “Saban’s fault” and “good season”.

Can’t make this up.

I’ll let you have the last word since you feel the need to continue thread after thread with name calling, putting words in others mouths, and wanting to constantly spar.

Simplistic reaction.

Cignetti hasn't had to deal with high profile players wanting cash, etc. He's had lightning in a bottle - time will tell if he's a magician (meaning better than Saban) or not. I'd guess more likely not. I suspect Cignetti will suddenly look far more 'normal' after this season's success...

So all this pomp and circumstance of the last 5 years and the most saban like clone from the Saban coaching tree takes a bunch of 3 stars, develops them into 5 stars, drills them like marines, gets them to play with 100% intensity, every play, but without any emotion, Like a machine, or like Alabama when cignitti was at Alabama. They don't do anything cute, they run the ball down your throat and make you eat it. And they might just win it all doing something from 20 years in the past.

At this point numerous teams gave Indiana better resistance than we did today so our reputation is pretty much trash. So next season when we get our 2nd loss just understand that absent winning the SEC title we aren't going to any more playoffs. The veil has been torn asunder. Nobody will forget this beating.

DeBoer has improved some from year 1 to 2 and that's good but we are no where near a championship level program. To do that we are going to need changes in the staff, We are going to have to get tougher players, or MAKE them tougher, we are going to have to find the kind of player that cares more about being dominant than being rich. and we are going to absolutely going to have to learn to run the ball or just lose every game until we find out how. There is no use getting to this point and getting steamrolled by the better teams who will NEVER lose to a team that's one dimensional.

DeBoer does NEED to develop a physical line on both sides of the ball and needs depth. But we haven’t had one since 2020. We have totally whiffed on them in both Saban and DeBoer’s years since 2020. Bryce covered up the deficiencies for two years and Milroe was our running game two years running. Our offensive line deficiencies are nothing new. They are just far more obvious.
So why do I keep hearing about offensive linemen from this team that will be drafted into the NFL?

History dictates that we are in for a steady decline into mediocrity after a legendary coach retires no matter who follows. CKD may or may not make it at the Capstone but our best days are behind us. At least, that is what it is looking like right now. DeBoer needs to earn his cash and right the ship over the offseason or be gone. This embarrassment cannot be tolerated.

Ohio State never seems to have this problem.

Let me take a wild guess. Same dude who's entire post is some version of "We should have hired Kiffin?"

Yeah. I blocked him to keep from getting banned.

It's this y'all. It's hard to watch a Bama team get beat like that, but IU's "team" beat our "talent."

I know the game was embarrassing, but this doesn't mean we need to blow up the program and start all over!

Everyone saying that, do you understand how bad it might get to try to start all over again???

The year was a lot better than I thought after the FSU game. The Defense is on the right track, but we have a lot to fix on offense. We got beat by a better team today. I’ll be cheering for Ole Miss since I have a relative on the team and I will never cheer for UGA. From now on in the NCAA, it’s playoffs or bust! FWIW - I can’t believe some still want Kiffin.

With all due respect, it was most definitely NOT a good season. Maybe for Ole Miss or Auburn or Vandy, but not for Alabama. 3 utterly humiliating losses in one season and a quarterfinal CFP loss do not equal good in my book.

And scary thing it was very close to being much worse (SC, Mizzou, even Vandy could have been losses with just a couple breaks going the other way).
You're right. What if we don't get the fumble versus SC, or Pavia doesn't fumble or throw the pick in the red zone. We might have been playing in the cold in the Pinstripe bowl or something. This year was not BAMA football. Coach Saban set a standard, and we should always play to that standard. Getting run out of the stadium is not BAMA football.
