Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

I think Ty got really good news today, Moore decided to return to Oregon. That probably moves Ty to #2 QB in the draft.

This may have been covered, I read somewhere Bray is returning for 1 more year. True?

Bray is coming back. I also heard Pierre definitely coming back as well.

Things are finally starting to come into focus and we are finding some players. We spent a lot to bring in our recruiting class and for retaining our better players. We aren't going to have the money of some other schools for high dollar starts.

Now... We need to scour the ranks of the 2/3* and look for inexpensive depth and older guys who can fill a role.

So the NCAA changes the portal rules from last year.....but we still have a 3 day dead period in the middle of said portal.

And I'm sure all the schools are adhering to that dead period and not contacting kids not in the portal, trying to entice them with an offer.

Today's message: Be patient. Don't get upset with who's coming in for visits and who's committing.

I'm starting to understand the Alabama strategy behind the transfer portal: steady, but consistent approach. Don't overpay for players while other schools are doing that.

Honestly that's smart. It tells me the staff is focused on building the right culture, right attitude and ready to go work. I'm optimistic about the additions for the team so far. If the coaching staff locks down players coming in today and this weekend...this shifts the narrative significantly and for right reasons.

FYI: what Texas is doing is very dangerous and I believe it'll backfire on them. That's a 30-40 million roster they're building and the players they're getting, hmmmmmmmmmmm IMO they overpaid for some of them.

Roster is talented but what about the culture in the locker room? They already were dealing with some messy stuff this past season.

It's not just Texas, but LSU too. Both of them have interesting schedule and both plays each other on November 14th. This time next year I will predict mass exodus from Texas and LSU. TAMU did this and failed.

Today is 𝑹𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒚. Stud center from Cal Poly who is a similar build as Brailsford. Deboer loves a mobile center.

Tomorrow is 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒏 who is big 6’5” 273 lbs DT who plays even bigger than 273. Sources say they anticipate his commitment before Friday’s end.

Sources also anticipate a visit from Ole Miss LB 𝑻𝑱 𝑫𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒚. Alabama native who has stacked up over 170 tackles over the last two seasons.

I'm not linking to the Twitter because this person loves to troll Alabama fans. But this is accurate info...

Awesome post. Also regarding Texas is how much booster politics generally intervenes in coaching decisions is historically and notoriously brutal.

Regarding Indiana, yeah they’re experienced/have some talent, etc, but do we really think they have more talent than a bunch of other blue bloods? Or is it culture and how that is more important than ever in an age of total transience.

there’s that famous Bear speech: give me the guy Thats a talent of 80 who works hard versus the guy that has more ability but doesn’t work as hard. Maybe if we get more of a bunch of solid, hard working players who don’t ***** in conjunction with the super talent we usually get that will get us back on track.

I realize that in today's pro football climate we aren't going to be more talented on paper than other teams. Certain teams are always going to load up. In fact in my opinion they are buying some players they don't need just to keep them away from teams they think they may face. Essentially paying them NOT to play. But I'm more concerned with what we do with the players we DO sign. We have to do a better job of coaching them up both as individuals and as a team.

Yeah I read that yesterday on one of the On3 sites. The NCAA couldn’t organize labor in a maternity ward….

So you are saying that the Clearing House determines Market Value? 🤔
Yes that is supposedly one of their primary roles. Establish a “true” market value for players. In theory, it then gives the baseline to determine whether the NIL is legitimate or simply a means of “play for pay”. Once again, that is “in theory”. We all know it IS “pay for play”.

We should....officially....get back all the vacated wins from Langham's napkin, from the other garbage of which I will not name out of Memphis, and from textbookgate.

They gave Reggie Bush back his Heisman......give us back the wins....officially.
Makes me wonder how much Albert Means would get in this market!

Back then, when Paul Finebaum said to Pat Dye that Alabama “supposedly paid $150k to get Albert Means”, Dye said “Wow…That’s quarterback money”. And there is more truth in Dye’s reaction than fiction.

Let’s be honest. Players were getting paid back then and even before that. But there was a “gentleman’s agreement” among many coaches in terms of who and how much to pay. Wimp Sanderson and Sonny Smith would joke about it all the time on their old radio show on WJOX years ago. It was supposedly “tongue in cheek” stuff about recruiting against each other in basketball, but it was more truth than fiction.

This... I've been guilty of expecting too much too soon as many of us have.

Over the last week we have consistently brought in solid players and are making steady progress. We just don't have the billionaires to toss stupid money at prospects and frankly, we don't want to overpay now and exhaust our resources. Down the road as the returns remain at zero for this "investment" I do think the other schools will see their cash drying up. Maintain a steady pace, play systems that players can learn quickly and build a culture that keeps lots of guys with us.

I've read that Texas anticipates a roster of 70 or so, because they can't afford more. I'm sure they can fill some scholly only slots, but that is telling.
