Mike Johnson on unmasking ICE agents: "It would create further danger ... taking the mask off and putting their names and addresses on their uniforms -- I don't think the president would approve it and he shouldn't"
Johnson knows this is not about safety. It is about shielding ICE agents from accountability. Names and badge numbers make it possible to report misconduct. Anonymous, masked agents make it impossible.
If the goals were simply legal enforcement and going after "the worst of the worst," identification would not be controversial. The issue exists because anonymity protects the Trump-authorized abuse, not because it protects agents.
The squeaker-of -the-house is all for the secret police.

Witnesses said agents deployed tear gas, pepper balls and rubber bullets as thousands of marchers arrived at the South Waterfront facility on Saturday. Erin Hoover Barnett, a former OregonLive reporter who joined the protest, said she was about 100 yards (90 meters) from the building when “what looked like two guys with rocket launchers” started dousing the crowd with gas.
“To be among parents frantically trying to tend to little children in strollers, people using motorized carts trying to navigate as the rest of us staggered in retreat, unsure of how to get to safety, was terrifying,” Barnett wrote in an email to OregonLive.
What I'm curious to see is how a judge balances Lemons actions and words in his videos with his rights as a journalist. If its ruled in Lemons favor thats a huge win for journalists and the boundaries they have to operate within.

I ran across the video of a little girl needing medical attention to have her eyes flushed.
ICE apparently has no rules of engagement or escalation/de-escalation.
They jump straight to violence every single time.

I agree; this will be fascinating to follow. Do they hold Lemon accountable or do they open the doors for "journalists" to start walking through abortion clinics and mosques whilst egging on protestors? This is a case that screams, "be careful what you wish for." I personally predict a trial, but no real consequences outside of a finger-wag from the judge or a hung jury that has some sympathetic Democrats contained therein. The only thing I am sure of is that this will be very different from a trial where the defendant is a regular "Joe Six-Pack."

Don Lemon is interested in all the attenion he can get. Lemon, being a man of color questioning white Evangelicals, is the perfect button-pusher for Trump and his media machine. A match made in the nether-regions.
If protesters have unlawfully entered an abortion clinic or mosque (or anywhere else), I hope journalists are present. The more documentation of what happens, the better we can understand the situation. It’s interesting that some have already decided that he’s guilty and that any other verdict will be less than legitimate.

Did the little girl's parents bring her to an event that might involve exposing her to any harm?

I have to ask......what kind of parent does this? Brings their children - their young children - to an ICE protest event?
Does it matter if the journalist helped in the preparation of said protest or no? That seems to be the thing that is hanging Lemon right now.
That's what happens when one is stupid enough to film himself doing his thing and then sharing it with the entire world. I can't help but wonder, though, if there will be any evidence presented outside of this. Some of these protestors could be looking at a deal to turn before all is said and done.

Did Lemon help in the preparation? I’ve heard him express support for the protesters and ask questions that likely come from that support, but haven’t seen evidence of him being involved in the planning. If that’s on video, it certainly doesn’t help his case.

For someone who is already getting a lot of rights as a journalist, showing professionalism and independency would go a long way in the court of public opinion. Rather than making it more than obvious that you are for what's going on and going even further and actively encouraging the protestors to keep doing what they're doing, and even more. It will be interesting to see if the law (aka a judge) takes that into account when he's tried.
Anyone who can fog a mirror should have known a Donald Trump lead ICE operation of deportation would turn into what it has. I find it amazing that Obama was able to use ICE to deport over 3 million illegals without one broadcast about it. He kept it on the low down and didn't turn it into a spectacle.
