It's all become such a "formality" now anyway.
I recall Ventura snorting that Al Franken was going to run for Senate there and "doesn't even have a Minnesota driver's license," so it doesn't shock me in Minnesota.
That being said, the pillow guy (who would have zero chance at beating Klobuchar anyway) is yet another in the long line of Republican kooks they put on the ballot places and don't bother to say, "You know, you're a lunatic to put it mildly, and you need to go away."

Well duh. This is why Trump is already laying the groundwork for an attempt at taking federal control of the elections. Keeping the war going and attempting to invoke emergency powers is the only play at this time.

Tubberville is an idiot. He’s going to attempt to go DOGE but I’m not sure it will work at the state level.
First, how will he frame this. Trump framed it as the evil Democrats, the dirty liberals created all this waste in government and only he could fix it. That will not fly in AL. The GOP have had a supermajority for 16 years now. Who’s he going to blame?
Second, I don’t think the state legislature is going to be all in on Tubs like the DC GOP have been with Trump. The state GOP are not going to hand over their power to Tubs as easily as the one in DC did for Trump. If he starts to target pet projects of legislators, he will become the enemy real quick.
Tubs also wants to eliminate the state income tax. Which sounds great to everyday citizens until you start trying to figure out how the state will pay for almost anything. You willing for your property tax to shoot up big time? Look at FL, no state income tax but property taxes that are at least 3x higher. Ready for car tags and registration to skyrocket? Ready for higher sales taxes, higher state tax on fuel? The state will get is money and if they do it through taxing other things we will probably pay more than we do with our income tax.
Tubs thinks he can comw down here and be "Trump" at the state level. I think he will hit far more road blocks then he thinks. He doesn't have the benefit of blaming the other party because the GOP have controled this state for a very long time.

Every other President we had sits down and hears the fact of life from consultants:
"Hey, look, Reagan/Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama/etc, you need to visit these states because it might help pull this one across the line - and you better stay out of these states because they don't like you at all."
This is just another in the, "I'm the smartest person alive and nobody can teach me anything about anything."
A SMART President would have four names ready to put on SCOTUS in November and be ready (if he loses) to quote all of the Democrats saying we need to add four justices and ramrod it through a lame duck session.*
A DUMB President would do exactly what he's going to do - insist that somehow despite him being so tough, the Democrats stole all the elections, and his party members who wouldn't pass SAVE are to blame.
* - just to be clear, I do not favor this is in ANY way, simply because once the box is open, we have bigger problems (also, I'm curious as to how Roberts would be forced to take them on since this subject HAS come up previously; Warren Burger told them to take a hike in 1971). I'm just saying what a guy who is actually playing 47-dimensional chess would do since his navel lint eating defenders insist he's doing this.

And if he narrowly loses, they'll be kicking themselves forever over the lies they told to act like Platner's back story didn't bother them. And it will also be as deserved as a GOP butt kicking on Election Day 2026.

I lived 34 miles from Maine on my two contracts a few years back and I knew damn well from engaging a bunch of them that:
a) they (not me, they) have an obsession with the Rebel flag and Civil War
b) when you point out THEIR OWN HYPOCRISY in similar terms to them, they cannot handle it.
They deny it like Trump voters deny he lost.
Furthermore, there isn't nearly as much distance between the hard left liberals and the Trump cult in their reasoning capacity. Years of "you won't renounce Trump" and yet they endorsed and celebrated Jay Jones winning in Virginia, and this is a guy who wanted to kill his Republican opponent in front of his kids.
When that line wasn't enough, neither was a Nazi tattoo.
I reiterate: they're more similar to Trump voters than they're intellectually honest enough to admit.

I never once did. Yes, they knew I'm originally from Alabama, and I have an obvious accent, especially up there. No matter how many times I pointed out I never voted for Trump, they thought I did.
But New Englanders (overall) have a real obsession with the South, most of them thinking it's still 1964 down here and they're pulling civil rights workers out of earthen dams every week.
