Just heard Adam JOnes of the Titans -- I refuse to use his nickname -- has been suspended for a year. Hopefully, the up and coming young thugs or those who just have a penchant for talking to the police about various matters, will take note and try to act like young men who have their God-given talent and are able to live their football dream and play in the NFL

I am glad he was suspended for a year. He was heading down the wrong road and could get in serious trouble. Maybe the mods should change the title to Adam "Pacman" Jones: Suspended, or something like that to clear up the topic.

He got what he deserved and frankly he's lucky he wasn't dumped (yet) by the Titans. He is a terrible scar on their organization and I'll be very surprised if they don't dump him. This wasn't his first issue and I doubt it will be his last. I'll frankly be surprised if he makes it through the entire '07 season (as a normal citizen) without running to trouble. If he does, good for him! However, I wouldn't bet my house on it.

I am sure Art Shell and the players union will cry foul and keep things stirred up and if that fails there is always "the race card" to play.

about time the NFL started punishing the thugs that play on Sunday's...

many, many years ago I worked with a gentleman that played pro baseball back in the late 40's early 50's, he said back then the pro player's greatest fear was the lunch pail...in other words, not making it and having to get a regular job...

the threat of flipping burgers needs to be a reality to these guys...

The players union was all for this, they were some of the ones who started to conversation in fact. Now i am also a little confused why we brought Art Shell into this as well.... maybe there is something I dont know but he was fired as the raiders coach, has he gotten another job since? Maybe you meant Sharpton, now he may have a problem with it.
I think a whole year was a little tough on someone who hasn't been convicted as of yet....i would have agreed with 10 games, does anyone know if there is a precedent for this....has anyone else been suspended for a whole year.

Yes Ricky Williams, Art Schliester (gambling) and a couple of others for gambling too.

For Jones to get back into the league he has to stay out of trouble for a year (ha ha) and do a bunch of other things for the Titans and the league before he can even apply for reinstatement.

Paul Hornung, a Hall of Famer was suspended for a full year, I think it was 1963.
I could be wrong, but I thought he (Shell) was head of the players union, maybe he no longer holds that position.

It is my understanding that the Titans will now have the money freed up that they would have paid him for the 2007 season.
That makes sense since he is suspended w/o pay. If not, the Titans are up s#$% creek without a paddle on that one. Who do they draft now? Think WR still or go DB?

Only one season? How is this guy not sharing a cell with Chris Henry?
To play devil's advocate, Jones was not charged like Henry was. Jones was questioned by police and arrested more than Henry, but not actually charged. Again, this is as devil's advocate. I think both should have been suspended for a year and am glad to see that goodell is trying to clean up the league. There have been some comments that the players can't stay out of trouble for a year. I'd be interested to see a poll asking whether the fans think that the two can stay out of trouble.

Actually they've already signed Nick Harper from the Colts and he is the designated replacement. Looks like they'll add someone else during the draft.

Jones Article

Last month, however, the Titans signed former Colts cornerback Nick Harper in the event Jones was suspended for a lengthy period. Harper is expected to start opposite second-year cornerback Reynaldo Hill, and the Titans will likely add more depth at cornerback in the upcoming draft.

from the sounds of it, they're going to go with what they've got in the secondary, including newly acquired Nick Harper. There are some good cover guys in the draft, but I'm not thinking they'll spend a high draft pick on one.

Correct, and Alex Karras was suspended the same year for gambling. Not as famous as Hornung, but he was an all-pro tackle for the Lions.
