I love the idea of 100,000+ fans at BD, and I don't care about parking. That goes along with success. Besides, where am I in a hurry to get to after the ballgame anyway? I'm in Tuscaloosa with 100,000 of my fellow Bama fans hanging out and having fun. Why would I be in a hurry to go home and end the night?

Sure, it'll get hotter when the bowl is completed all around, but don't forget how LOUD it'll get, too. Home field dominance is in our near future once again, I really believe it.

Yea, and parking, hotels, etc.

It'll be a while before they begin. They have to settle on a design, raise money and all. I kinda hope it a few years myself so the roads/streets, parking, etc to catch up with 92K.
As for design, just mirror the north end zone. Raise money? Place a series of collections plates, or even jars, in strategic locations at BDS during home games. The new addition will be paid for before the end of the season. :cool2:

Now if they could only find a way to filter out some of the blaring sun for those in the East side seats. :)
For those on the east side, enclosing the South Endzone will without question help with the sun because it sets from the southwest during football season and that will help big time! It will even help with the east upper.

That is great news to me! Who would have thought 20 years ago that Bryant Denny would have 102,000+ seats? This is without question a dream come true!

Here's the current top five:
1- Michigan - 107,501
2- Penn State - 107,282
3- Tennessee - 104,079
4- Ohio State - 101,568
5- UCLA (Rose Bowl) - 92,542 (not on campus)

If we hit 102k, we'd have the fourth larget stadium (currently, BDS is the 7th largest with LSU being 6th at 92,400).

this must not be true or one of you would have said it:

I heard that when Saban got there he looked the expansion asked when the other endzone would be expanded. 'They' said probably when we win another SEC championship, Saban replied 'go ahead and call the architect'

I guess that was a rumor or yall would have heard that ????

The issue is decking the south end zone, not merely adding seats to the lower bowl. When the south end zone is decked, if things go as they have gone with the other exansions, the top few rows of the lower bowl beneath the new deck will be lost initially, and then replaced with new seating. My personal opinion is that none of the new upper deck seats will be allotted to students; however, the student seating would certainly be increased. Unless something has changed in the last couple of years, the capacity of the student section is set as a specified percentage of the total capacity of the stadium. I do not know what that percentage is; however, for the sake of argument, let's say 15%. Assuming a total stadium capacity of 100,000, the student section would be 15,000; however, it sounds from your post, as though the student section is already 15,000. Therefore, the percentage must be higher than 15%. Regardless, rest assured that the capacity of the student section will never equal the number of students enrolled at the Capstone. It's not going to happen.
i get what u saying, but the students need more tickets. they (or i should say we since i am a student) dont need 25k tickets, but close to 20k would be nice. all i know is that kids that grow up fans there whole life (and more times than not students at colleges go to the college they grew up rooting for) and the incoming freshman get HALF the home game tickets. thats messed up. i am not trying to start a student fight again cuz those threads have been already posted in the past, its just that each fall students get screwed over and for the amount of money our parents shell out to the school we deserve something in return.
