Reid's mom was feeding him chicken, SO WHAT! Is that really worth a scathing article! Give me a break.

At the same time, if you want to play big time D1 football you better be prepared to deal with a hostile press. Gundy can't go off the deep end every time one of his coaches or players gets criticized.

The article was stupid, and probably badly misrepresented the facts.

Gundy's response was overboard, and probably had as much to do with deflecting attention away from himself and his staff as it did in defending one of his players.

It's OSU, who cares?

What I meant to add was: Do you suspect the mamas of the nation are guiding our quarterbacks to a degree we do not appreciate?

"Now listen, honey, don't let one of those big, hairy DLs get close to you during the game. You kick him in the shins, do you hear? Or you run backwards as fast as you can and get out of the way! Have some more drumstick."

Maybe. But let's don't say Gundy is a guy you'd want your kids to play for without knowing the facts. That's all I'm saying. He could have prevented the whole thing if he'd been honest about the situation up front.

If my mama made me some chicken I'd dang sure eat it, but she doesn't even invite me to come over and eat unless it's Thanksgiving or Christmas.
The problem was she didn't make enough chicken to share w/the team and coaches. Thus Gundy is a little upset.

PS.
You just have to eat a ton at those two occasions. Good luck w/that.

If your mama brings you chicken, you best eat it. They coach only has you for so many years. Your mamas baby for a lifetime.:) Got any taters and biscuits?
O, I'll eat it. But I can promise you she won't be feeding it to me. She taught me to do that for myself before I was 2.

I could say my mama fed me chicken just because she invited me over and served chicken. Doesn't necessarily mean she spoon fed me the chicken. Sort of like saying you fed the chickens, pigs, cows etc. You provided the meal, the still had to eat it.

I was caught off guard by that part of the story....she fed him the chicken. She was using a fork and was feeding him. That was the odd part to me.

Now that would be a little strange. Anyway, all this talk of chicken has got me hungry. Think I'll go to lunch. Maybe KFC.

Speaking about farm animals is very different from writing about a person. It was a poor choice of words by the author if the term "fed" was meant to describe simply providing the chicken.

That's my problem with these shock media writers though. Gundy didn't sit down and explain to the media exactly in detail why he decided to go with another player, so they wrote whatever they wanted. In that one article she uses the terms "If you believe the rumors and the rumblings", "Tile up the back stories told on the sly over the past few years", "Word is", "If you listen to the rumblings and the rumors, Cowboy coaches simply grew weary of it". I'm not a Gundy fane, but I do believe that is article is garbage, and I commend him for calling her out. I'm sure there are a lot of facts that anyone outside the program doesn't know.
