According to MLive -- the Michigan version of AL.com -- sources close to both LSU and Les Miles report that they have reached a multi-year extension that will keep Miles at LSU as one of the highest paid coaches in the country.

The story itself comes from Jim Carty of the Ann Arbor News. Click here for the entire thing.

According to the article, details of the extension are to be announced by LSU shortly.

I don't know if this report is credible or not, but it does come from a very credible source apparently. This is essentially the Michigan version of TideSports it seems, so it might be dead on. Nothing yet from the LSU front.

UPDATE

The Times-Picayune out of New Orleans has confirmed this story. Click here for the entire thing. LSU has scheduled a press conference for 12:50 today to announce the new deal.

Re: MLive: Miles Staying at LSU

I have it on very good sources that following today's games, Carr will leave retirement to take over the Packers, Jerry Moore will leave App. State to become the new coach at Michigan, Les Miles will be fired and retire to Arizona, and fRan is coming to Baton Rouge to become the new head of the LSU sewage treatment plant. You can take it to the BANK!!!!

Re: MLive: Miles Staying at LSU

Well, I suppose we can cancel out all of those "Saban going back to LSU rumors."

I was browsing some stuff on Tiger Droppings, and some people are not too pleased.

Personally, I'm glad he's staying, if that is the case. LSU can get a better coach than him. And if they are going to give him Saban-esque money, they need to take a course in low ROI.

If he wins today, all will be well. But if he chokes against Tennessee and they give him huge bucks, look out. All will not be happy there, and rightly so.

Re: Miles Press Conference announced for 12:50

I cannot believe this can't wait till tomorrow. They are about to play in the SEC Championship game. Talk about a distraction. Just tell your players you arent leaving in private and then deal with it on Monday. All I have to say is, GO VOLS.
No way I will root for UT.

He's an idiot.
The timing of this is a lose-lose for Miles. If this is, as it appears, an announcement that he is going to stay at LSU with a new contract and then he goes out and loses the conference championship game, then everyone's going to be saying, "Shouldn't you have been working on Tennessee instead of worrying about getting a raise?"

Re: MLive: Miles Staying at LSU

well, it's in print, so it's gotta be true.
With all due respect...

This story is being reported by every major media outlet surrounding both Ann Arbor and Baton Rouge. Moreover, LSU has scheduled a press conference, and you know they didn't schedule a press conference two hours before kick-off in the SEC Championship Game to announce that Miles is going to Michigan.

That is a lot more than just something being "in print."

Re: MLive: Miles Staying at LSU

Why I will be pulling for Tennessee. I know we all hate them. I get it. But if LSU loses today, it will cause big problems for one of our main western rivals.
Man, a lot of LSU hate on this board lately. I like LSU, and while I'm still not sold on Miles, I hope he does well there (if he is indeed staying). Coupled with the fact that I loathe that ugly Arange team up north, I hope those Bayou Bengals lay a hurting on Fat Phil that he won't soon forget.

i guess they dont want the talk of miles leaving going on all during the game. recruits will be watching ,saban is hunting in la. i guess they are trying to stop the bleeding. this has got to be a distraction for the team. with lsu -7 1/2 ,tenn with a buy up to +8 in the sec champ game is a pretty good bargin to me. there ought to be a house full of orange tonight.
