Personally, I think Fran would be a good choice for SMU. He did well @ TCU and would be going after the same type of recruit @ SMU. If Fran were to keep together his O staff from aTm and allowed Les Koening Jr to run the offense (including game planning and play calling) there is no reason SMU could not win 7 or 8 games a season and make a bowl game.

Fran would be a great fit for Navy (should PJ leave) except for his character flaws. His O style would fit Navy's personell well.

He's not a good choice for any school. The man has no character, conviction, and now it seems no ethical standards as well.
I hear he's going to start manufacturing "The Fran Rope"...a novelty gift item.
Football players and fans try to hold onto it and then a little Fran doll jerks it away from them and they all fall flat on their face as the doll laughs and high tails it out of town.

I've heard through the grapevine that he's not going back into coaching; but has instead secured a sales position with a company - Texas territory - selling the "bro" or "mansiere" as it is called in some parts.
"No, bro's no good. Too ethnic."

He's not a football coach although he plays one on tv, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
This post will live in my memory forever. Everytime I see the picture of Fran standing there with the 77-0 score on the screen, I will think of him playing a HC on TV. :biggrin2: :pDT_ura1:

I think that he'll go into free-fall, if he tries to stay in coaching. I'd think he'd drop to Div II. Or HS...
He should drop to Pee-Wee and sell an "Insider Information News Letter" at the concession stand.
50 cents a copy or free with the purchase of a "Fran Dog".....
A weinie with no buns....topped with his famous Bull**** Chili Sauce!!
:)

P.S. I apologize to the mods in advance if this post is inappropriate...
But this guy let the players down big time the way he left Bama.
I have no respect for him at all.

I agree. Fran's a decent x's and o's coach and superb organizer and delegator, imo, but lacks in other important areas. I still think the gameplan he put together for the Oklahoma game back in '02 where we darn near beat Stoops showed he has some coaching ability. With his option offense, I think he would be a good fit at a service academy, but other issues would probably prevent him from ever getting such a position. "email-gate" is a black mark on his record that will prevent him from ever coaching again in big time college football and my guess is he'll end up at a directional school somewhere.
