Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!
1) Won't happen for two reasons: One, what drives stadium expansions these days is luxury boxes, period. The university has a convenient out here because student ticket demand is also high, but the fact is if we didn't have a double-digit waiting list for skybox/Zone tickets, this would never get done. Two, given that Zone/skybox is a must, a triple-stack deck would put seats up in the air traffic pattern, almost. You wouldn't be able to see a thing from up there.
2) Rows 1-4 already can't see a thing. That means no more sideline seating unless the field was dug out and dropped, which I'm told can't be done because of utilities running under field level and some issue with the soil there (drainage issue).
3) Would be nice, but probably not in the plans.
4) This is a possibility. The existing scoreboard will have to come down and everything in it is obsolete, anyway.
5) Doubt you'll see those.
6) Not sure what that means.
7) Current concession stands are fine, IMO. You might need more of them but the ones we have are adequate for the menu.
8) Impossible on the south end due to the proximity to Bryant Drive. Likely won't happen on the north end due to the addition of elevators this last time. If you need elevator clearance, it's pretty easy to get through Tide Pride. Call them for details.
9) Nice idea; probably not a part of this project.
10) Believe it or not, this is the same elephant roar we've always had. We didn't use one prior to 1997 and it's the same graphics/sound package. What has changed was that when the North expansion was completed, it deleted the sound system in that end and that system had more low-end frequency capabillity. It will have to be addressed on this expansion because when the scoreboard comes down, the sound system comes down with it.
11) Not possible and maybe not legal. Those must be kept clear for emergency vehicles to come on and off the field, as well as groundskeeping equipment.
12) Best chance for that is for something to open up behind one of the Zones, or in existing space in the lower east and west concourses. Maybe under the east overhang.
13) That will be part of this expansion.
14) There won't be any new sideline seats, so I guess this one is out, too.
15) They had TVs in places at one time but most either are gone or non-functional. A good idea but probably not part of this expansion.
From what I've heard of the plan, here's what I can tell you in regards to your proposals:I just wish that whatever is decided that there will be several things done
in this final phase
1.have a triple stacked over hanging deck over the student section on the south endzone where a majority are traditional bleacher seats
2.add 3 rows of seats around the bottom level stretching from endzone to endzone along the sidelines
3.reinstall state of the art restroom areas with sinks and toilets that flush themselves and crimson tiles all over
4.a super mumbo jumbotron that would align from one canopy of the eastern deck to the western deck canopy
5.have 2 Elephants for the entrance on the new side
6.redo all concourses to cover exposing pes and ramps from the inside to outside of the view of the stadium by using some sort of material to cover the concrete surface on the ground and above
7.redo every concession stand
8.have 4 new eskelators on each four corners like pro stadiums to ease the walking room to go along with the spiral ramps
9.have a black gate adorning the sidelines and get rid of the ugly chainlink fence
10.bring back the old dinosaur style Elephant roar instead of the shrill scream
11.add a couple of rows of seats over the old 4corner endzone tunnels to expand capacity;would leave just enough room to still have them in use
Then of course the next ideas of mine would be just for bells and whistles
12.have an official permanent stadium store, entertainment and food court like the major league baseball stadiums have
13.have 2 mini jumbo trons in the sections of the south end
14.paint a tidal wave that extends alongeach sideline fence when the new seats and rows are built
15.place widescreen tvs inside the tunnels when you leave
inside the stadium for breaks
