Re: Montez Robinson....

BET or other recruiting insiders, would we take Coleman?
I'm not BET or an insider, but I doubt it. We've got commitments from some really outstanding DL already and with the tight numbers, I just don't think we have room for him at this point.

Now I think Montez Robinson is a different story. I am sure CNS will take him no matter what. JMHO. :)

Yeah I think we will definitely take Robinson.

Just looked at Coleman's profile on Rivals and it has him with high interest for Arkansas. I guess that's where he will probably end up.

Re: Recruiting Cleanup

As I said earlier, the only one that will likely get a firm offer from Alabama is Montez Robinson. Atchison did not have a firm offer before, IMO, and I do not expect him to get one now.

Being brutally honest, though, the firing of Tuberville really isn't going to have a huge impact on the bulk of their recruiting class one way or the other. The harsh truth of the matter for them is that they were recruiting so terribly that no major program wants any of the majority of their commitments in the first place, so they certainly aren't going to want them a second time around.

However, Auburn is going to lose a few guys because of this, and it could have the impact of turning a bad class into a very bad class. Just a few thoughts on who could / will go:

  • Montez Robinson is the first and foremost player, though I have a feeling that he just might be one of those guys who bleed orange and blue regardless.

  • Rodney Scott was likely South Florida bound anyway, and this will only further cement that.

  • All of these re-signees that were academic casualties from previous classes, guys like Eltoro Freeman, Onterrio McCalebb, Nick Fairley, etc. may very well look at other places now that the coach they originally signed with has been given the axe.
All in all, that's about it. All of these other guys with offers from East Popcorn State, they aren't going anywhere. This might drop Auburn's class from the low teens to the low twenties or perhaps even into the thirties, but frankly, as I said earlier, it was going to be a crappy class anyway, and now it is only going to be a bit crappier class.

It's really a no-win situation for Aubie. When it rains, it pours.

BET,

What about Raymond Cotton?

Re: Montez Robinson....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a rumor of some sort involving Bama recruiting Coleman as a MLB?

A few thoughts since some of you asked...

I do not think we will take Terrance Coleman. As I have said many times earlier, we certainly would have taken him earlier in the process, but I do think the ship has sailed. I'm no Auburn expert, but if I had to wager I would say his uncle will turn pro early, and he will pick another SEC school (not Alabama). If we were to re-extend a firm offer to him, I think we have a great chance at picking him up; after all, he was seriously re-considering us even before the Tuberville firing, but at the end of the day I just cannot see him getting a firm offer. And yes we have been looking at him possibly as an inside linebacker.

I do not think we will take Jonathon Atchison. I do not think he ever had a firm offer to Alabama, and the firing of Tuberville does nothing to change that.

I do not think we will take Raymond Cotton. He has some other offers from BCS conference schools, and I imagine he will open his recruitment back up, so he may very well get some more offers. I have no clue if he'll end up at Auburn, but given his lack of ties to AU otherwise than Tubby, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Apparently, according to at least one Auburn board, Ensminger was actually in Cotton's living room on a visit when he got the text message of Tuberville's firing, and of course that can never be a good thing.

I do think we will now get B.J. Chitty. I think we had a great shot with him even when he was still committed to Auburn, but with Tuberville gone I imagine that he is now pretty much a 'Bama lock.

The huge news stemming from this is Montez Robinson. Not only has he de-committed from Auburn, he has also apparently dropped them from consideration. Georgia is a fine program and they will give us serious contention, but if things are really down to Alabama v. Georgia -- and I think they are -- I think the odds are in our favor that he ends up at Alabama. That said, he's likely to take some more official visits to Alabama and Georgia, and he says he will end up deciding on National Signing Day.

At this point, it is somewhat setting up as a race between Montez Robinson and Fletcher Cox as to who commits first. We only have one Jack linebacker spot left, but either way it's clear now that we will get our Jack linebacker in this class. And with Robinson, even if he ends up at Georgia, that's no real major loss for us. The biggest problem with him going to Auburn was that we would have faced him four times, but with him in Athens we will only face him once (thanks to the rotational divisional schedule) unless we meet up with them in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.

Bottom line, this is an avalanche of absolutely terrible news for Auburn, and two bits of great news for the Tide. Aside from destroying what little higher-end talent was present in a bad class -- thus turning an already bad class into an outright terrible class -- the Tuberville firing should turn at least one, and perhaps two, players with elite-level talent to Alabama.

My friends, a day like this calls for some Stagg and a Macanudo for all of us Alabama recruiting aficionados. Cheers!

OMG! We just simply CANNOT afford to sign less than 25 in this year class. Even if it means some players from our current team have to transfer.

We're fixing to cherry-pick the once committed recruits from Tennessee, Miss.State, maybe Clemson and now Auburn.

This is going to be better than 2008 class, I'm sure. :ROCKER:

Questions about these two paragraphs.
There was a Sporting News article a little while back with Chitty saying he was a huge Florida fan and if they offered he was gone so what makes you so sure he is a Bama lock now? Also I guess we are recruiting him as a receiver correct?

Also Robinson said he will wait until NSD to choose now. So if he waits do we get Cox and let Robinson go to UGA?

To flip the scenario ... is there any chance that a particular new hire at Auburn could affect our class?

I can't think of any possibilities of that ... unless maybe a Muschamp hire could affect 'Dre Kirkpatrick.
I seriously, seriously doubt it. I'm almost 100% sure they're not going to get anyone capable of out recruiting CNS. We own the state of Alabama and we'll continue to own it as long as CNS is here.

BET or other recruiting insiders, would we take Coleman?
I don't think so. He had his chance and now it's likely gone IMO.

Depends on what the coach's pecking order is in all honesty. If Robinson is atop the list we'll wait on him, if he's not we likely won't. I still think we have a very good shot with Cox.
