This one takes the cake .

Some names I expect to emerge in the Auburn coaching search:

Jimbo Fisher,FSU-The buyout is a hurdle but his name has been mentioned so much that an interview at the least won't be too far off.

Rick Trickett,FSU-Has been a sleeper candidate for the job but with past ties to Auburn and a friendship with several boosters will allow him to get an interview for the job.

Skip Holtz,ECU-With his name currently out of the running for any job available he will be open to an interview with Jacobs if and when he is asked.

I won't be surprised if unmentioned names like Chris Hatcher,Larry Porter, and Bud Foster rear their head next week.
Response .....

i'm really really tired of all of these ridiculous names that are being added to an already ridiculously populated list.... After JJ's "money is not a problem" statement i'm gonna be severely disappointed if we dont pull one the concensus top 3 (CSS, BOOM, CTG) or some HUGE name we haven't heard yet... Imho, the longer this crap goes on the worse it is for us as a university, recruiting, and for my own personal health.
Any coach that can get Rice to a bowl game deserves serious consideration.

I'm really embarrassed and angry that we interviewed Chizik. He's 5-19 at Iowa State and will probably be fired in the next couple of years. A fine DC but he is not HC material. And now we are being laughed at because some believe he is a serious candidate although everyone at AU knows otherwise.

I'm really beginning to believe Jacobs or whomever is behind this stupid little game is incompetent at conducting a coaching search.

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=6&f=1010&t=3594406
Go ask Jeremy Foley off the record if Jay Jacobs is qualified. Basically this guy is not qualified to deliver dry cleaning and yet some way he found himself as AU ad one day after an exhaustive search by an executive seach firm. Louder puppet.
We're so damned lost. Where the hell is Innsbruck, Austria?

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=6&f=1010&t=3594688
We have interviewed every one on the face of this earth..

Muschump says no
Spurrier says no
Patterson says no

Imho that leaves 2 coaches worth a crap on the list.
Grobe and gill

Total offense last 3 years: 2008 - 103rd, 2007 - 93rd, 2006 - 96th. Solid defenses. Well respected in coaching circles. We need offense and continue having good defenses. I don't see Grobe as the answer. Stats gotten off of ncaa.org.

Even in our darkest hours during our coaching carousel I don't remember this level of implosion. Maybe we got close during the time of the CMP dismissal but I really don't remember it getting this bad.

Couldn't happen to a nicer program.

Except maybe Tennessee. :)

Sorry I have to disagree it wasn't UThugs program that turned a lot of Bama fans off, it was the FAT ONE!! I might not be as old as some on the board but, from what I can remember as a child it was a good respectful game. Then FAT BOY messed Coach Majors over and it went to hell in a hand basket after that.

I have to a disagree about Tennessee. Their fans were all more than happy to condone what PF did as long UT was winning. They're guilty and were as smug as could be. Sorry, but I wish nothing but horrible things to happen to that program and it's fans. Their fans were the ones crowing the loudest in our darkest days, the ones that laughed at us the loudest, ridiculed us the most, kicked us the hardest in those days. Sorry, but now and forever, no mercy to UT and their fans.

I could say "I do remember" to the RT's post and "I think the barners were the worst" to BH's post but I can't because... a 12-0 record and a very respectable SECCG followed by a Sugar Bowl, in coach Saban's second year has erased all football related memory from 2006 back to 2000.

I will say, if I could remember, I believe that the Barn fans have only begun to understand what it was like back then and they have no idea how bad it can get...but they will.

Yes, life is good...at least what I can remember of it.

I am going to make my prediction (serious) about the barners new HC. After hearing all the names it is my opinion that the best they can do now is Gene Chizik. While I do not think this is in any way a homerun for them he is not a bad coach and he should be aware of the dynamics and politics associated with their football program. He will have to find an offensive staff capable of playing in the SEC which is going to be a tall order.

They could have a new HC today. All they have to do is pick up the phone and call Al Borges. The problem is they would have to give him complete control over the program, and boosters would have to be restricted from having any control or influence over the program at all. But we know that's not going to happen.

And speaking of such matters, isn't the exact situation that exists at AU right now what most of us, and I believe the NCAA as well, call LOIC?

If Chizik is who they come up with, after all of this, it will be laughable.

And I have to disagree. UT BOT members were neck deep in this mess, Roy Adams even though he is a disassociated booster was a major player and UT fans rallied to his lies. It went even beyond the program.

I'm sorry, but go back to the DuBose replacement if you want to see a DuBacle. And for us it ONLY GOT WORSE!!

Butch Davis - never mind
Frank Beamer - never mind
Tommy Bowden - never mind
(All 3 got huge raises out of that)
Jackie Sherrill - called a press conference to say he wasn't going - the fact the job was not even going to be offered to him

So we wound up with a second-tier guy who had no class.

He's not bad? He is 5-19 in the BIG 12 North! Prattville High could do better in that division. He will sink quickly as a HC in the deep-end known as the Southeastern Conference.

When it comes to reputation, Auburn is that dysfunctional family that reminds you of the Oakland Raiders. The power brokers at Auburn (Bobby Lowder and Co.) remind you of redneck versions of Al Davis.

There is pain on the plains, Many thought the grass was always greener on the other side and now they are starting to see what a cluster they really are.

Absolutely! :mad2:

To this very day, after pooper-scooping my yard of the neighborhood dog's ut's I think "well, thats that"..but usually by the next day or so, I'm again reminded of the special stench that is tenercee!

I just try my best not to step in it.

Anyway, SNASS!!! :BigA:

Our last coaching search no way rivals what the Barn is going though now. Regardless of what had happened here, our program was still respected nationally. I really don't think you can say that about the Barn. Further, our BOT wasn't up to it's collective eyebrows in the search for a new Coach. They let Mal handle it, and he did... quite well as I recall. Finally, Mal Moore is a well respected and beloved individual in the Bama family. Jay Jacobs is the just the opposite within the Barn faithful. And from the outside looking in, they are right to feel that way. They have major issues, and I hope it stays that way.:)

WHAT THE FLY ON THE WALL HEARD

JACOBS: Coach, we would like you to be our next HC at Auburn.

CANDIDATE: "We" who?

JACOBS: Uh, you know, Bobby Lowd.......uh,the Auburn family.

CANDIDATE: Have you noticed what Nick Saban is building over there?

JACOBS: Umm, that is just because we are down right now. Bammer is irrelevant.

CANDIDATE: I will be stuck with Cody and Chris at QB, won't I?

JACOBS: Money is no object.

CANDIDATE: Can I get back to you on this?

JACOBS: Sigh. (while thinking "I am running out of prospects.")
