Can we not ban any UTES for coming over and razzing us? I feel like we all underestimated them, and I think we deserve it. Clearly, the team (and, it seems, even CNS) underestimated these guys, and they flat out exposed us tonight. They pulled down our pants and whipped our little hineys. Maybe I'm speaking for myself about the underestimating...

Please ban any and all Barners, though...

Well it didn't end the way I expected or wanted, but Utah wanted it more tonight. This loss doesn't undo a terrific season.

I don't mind you criticizing the play of a player or position but it needs to be worded a bit better. Try again.

Thanks,

Anyone think that Utah should be ranked #1.
NO. I just think we're that bad.

EDIT: BTW--just in case this was mistunderstood:

Any contraction that ends in 're is dual purpose. It can mean [pronoun] ARE or [pronoun] WERE. In this instance, I meant "We were that bad."

And we tonight were. The stats from the game prove it. We weren't all season, but I've already stated what I believe about our team for the season. Nothing can take away from their record.

12-2 sounds great, but not when you were once 12-0. We still have a ways to go. Another recruiting class, and a year or two playing together and we should be ready to close the deal.

Honestly, I'm man enough to say they beat us tonight, and badly (though there were reasons I think it was so lopsided).

However, I don't need to see any razzing from their fans. As far as I'm concerned, their team showed what they were made of tonight, both as a team and as, shall we say "not so nice" individuals on the field.

I don't mind Utes fans who want to come in and be civil, but smack talking is not welcome, I'm sure.

Utah outplayed us whatever the reason was.
I am certain that the loss of Andre and Mike Smith hurt us badly on offense but I have no explaination what happened to our offense.

As for Kyle Whittingham, he is a whiny punk. I don't think I can pull for Utah as long as he is there.

Good nite all. Better days will be coming. We did a great job this season with what we had. A 12 win season was something I had not even dreamed of. We are on the right track, give it some time. Roll Tide. It's way past my bed time and I'm pretty sleepy.

Every since 92 I have longed for the day when Bama could just win the games it's supposed to. USC goes out and dominates, (yes they lost a game they shouldn't) but in an overall way. We played one of the best if not the best team in the nation better than this. Congrats to Utah. I just hope this dosen't set us back a few years. The incoming class of O-line guys needs to look no further than this game to see how bad they are needed and how hard they need to work in the off season.

Alabama is the better team, but we came out flat as hell and it showed. These are the consequences of playing a non-BCS team in a BCS bowl. Who cares if we beat Utah? They're an undefeated team from a crappy conference.

It's hard for the players to get up for this game as a reward to a 12-0 regular season in the SEC. A game against Utah is the reward for that? Woopty doo. Unfortunately that's the attitude our team had too. Hats off to Utah for taking advantage of us not being ready to play. But you play this game 10 times, Alabama wins 8 or 9. Especially if this game was played in the regular season.

This matchup was a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't game for Alabama. If we win, we're supposed to. If we lose, it's the end of the world. Tonight the world ended. Bad end to 2008, but what can you do? Bring on 2009.

I credit it mostly to a makeshift OL, which they took max advantage of. The rest of it is that our guys aren't used to playing against that type of offense. On defense, it's ironical that UF has a very similar offense, and yet we played them more strongly. The distractions definitely didn't help - losing Andre' and then MJ on top of it hurt badly, but give them credit, they grabbed the advantage and ran...

Worst part other than losing is having to split the bowl money with the barners.:) I did keep them at bay pretty good here. Every time they piped in with a comment I told them we could channel surf over to their game during commercials. :)

Utah came into this game with something to play for, respect and national recognition. We came into this game (apparently) with nothing to play for and spent the first 15 minutes of game time mired in a daze. I lay that at the coaches feet. The team just wasn't into this game from the beginning.

That said I'm proud of them and the season they had. There are good things ahead for Alabama and it will be a fun ride the next few years.

Congratulations to Utah, you're a fine team and you whipped our tails tonight.

Switzer hit the nail on the head at halftime: Alabama wanted to play in the National Championship, Utah wanted to play in the Sugar Bowl. Bottom line, they came to play, we did not.
