An Alabama Waffle House employee says he lost his job because he refused to serve a President Donald Trump supporter.

The former employee, Harry Black, recounted the incident at the Helena Waffle House location in the description posted to a GoFundMe he started.

Black refers to the Trump supporter as a “nazi” and said he told the man he wouldn’t cook for “fascists” which angered the customer.

“I told a nazi I wouldn’t cook for him so he and his goons tried to catch me outside and then he had his mom call store and get mad,” Black said.

Black said that he was told by the shift supervisor to, “beat it,” after the incident.

But Black remains proud of the fact that the Trump supporter did not receive his food.

“I am unemployed but that guy never did get his food,” Black said.
This Waffle House is in Helena, Alabama, which is in a big red county.

My opinion of Trump is pretty obvious on here but this guy is an idiot and so are the people giving to his GoFundMe. It said on one of the links on there the guy was wearing a Trump shirt but didn’t say if the guy went on a political rant. I really don’t blame the Trump guys “goons” for getting on his case as long as they didn’t physically assault him. Don’t blame the manager one bit for firing him.

This isn’t the first story I have seen of people not serving Trump supporters. I said the same thing about the gay wedding cake baker. You are open to the public so you need to serve the public. You aren’t helping your side by doing petty stuff like this.

I would feel the same way if someone didn’t serve someone in a Harris shirt.

This reminds me of when the "Defund the Police" movement was a popular talking point, and there were isolated cases of people refusing to serve police officers. I don't know what people think they're going to accomplish by doing stuff like this. It doesn't do anything to help their cause or further any point they're trying to make.

I mean, he has every right to not serve someone. That being said, even though he is free to do so, he's not free from the consequences. Losing his job.

I'm sure he was yelling "It's a FREE country!" as he was shown the door. It's like the people who scream about free speech when the govt hasn't done anything to abridge it. Yes, you're free to poke the bear, but the bear is also free to eat you.

Unless the customer was drunk, abusive, smelled like a septic tank.....political affiliation isn't something generally considered as something you'd refuse service for.

Funny how people are all about their freedom of choice/speech, etc., but get upset when others exercise theirs in response.

Sounds about right.

Freedom of speech means the government won't put you in jail, fine you, or otherwise sanction you for speaking your mind.

Even that has limits -- you can't yell "Fire" in a crowded theater when you know there isn't one, you can't threaten the life of the President, you can't incite a riot or advocate the overthrow of the government, and you can't commit libel or slander. I'm sure there are others.

It doesn't mean the court of public opinion won't levy consequences for speaking your mind. Ask the Dixie Chicks and Natalie Maines how that works. Or the Presidents of Harvard, MIT and Penn.

In today's world, it also matters to the media whose ox is being gored. If a Waffle House employee had refused to serve a customer wearing a shirt saying Black Lives Matter / Reparations Now it would have been national news on an endless loop. As it is, it's a minor footnote with moral support (and a Go Fund Me) generally leaning toward the erstwhile server.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that this person doesn't even know what a Nazi actually is. He probably thinks the holocaust is something from Star Trek.

I did this once.

It should be noted, however, that someone repairing the A/C accidentally tripped the fire alarm, so we were, in fact, evacuating. ("I've always wanted to do this - FIRE!").

And to make this better - it was the movie "Independence Day," that scene where they blow up the White House.

I'm serious.

Unless you're Donald Trump.
