another blowout. SMH.

We just Stink.

I love the Braves and I've been watching them for almost 40 years but they are just Awful and what's worse they are the most careless and lifeless and long since given bunch I've seen.

Some of the 80s Braves were just TERRIBLE but they gave daily effort.

The 2025 squad is just stealing a paycheck (Acuna is the exception).

The 70s Braves...it was Phil Niekro and 1-2 guys who had good offensive numbers: Gary Matthews, Jeff Burroughs, Bob Horner. And usually if one had a good year, the other two stunk.

The Late 80s Braves (1985-90) was Dale Murphy, 1-2 guys who had decent seasons, and usually a pitcher who had a pretty good year (85 Mahler, 87 Zane Smith, 89 Glavine AND Smoltz). PLUS - in the late 80s you could see that Glavine and Smoltz had the goods, they just needed some development and some hitting (BAs of .242, .250, and .250 in 88-89-90).

Here's one to make you faint: the 1987 Atlanta Braves had THREE HALL OF FAMERS on the team (Simmons, Niekro, Glavine) at the end of the year along with at least 2-3 other potential HOFers (Nettles, Murphy) and a guy who in his prime was just a cut below HOFers, Ken Griffey Sr. Of course as you notice, those HOFers were either OLD GUYS or ROOKIES except Murphy.

This team is a preseason contender and may as well be called the No Hopes.

For anyone interested, here is a 1987 preview by the AP.

Off Topic but have any of you seen the Rookie 1B for the A's?

Kid almost hit 5 HR's the other night

He's 2nd in MLB in OPS behind only Aaron Judge

He's 7th in MLB in BA hitting .305

He's 2nd in SLG behind only Judge

Impressive seeing a young guy that can hit right away.

The A's took him at 4th in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Wake Forest

We didn't have have a pick until about 20 spots later but the guy we took is still in Single A for the Augusta Greenjackets.

I'm jealous and bitter about everybody else right now....lol

Braves go ahead in top of ninth, Iglasias blows ANOTHER chance for save in bottom of 9th and Rangers win in 10th.

can we all agree that iglasias has run out of lives and deserves to be relegated or released - I dont care which. He lacks whatever it is that closers must have.
We should absolutely cut him loose.

Snit keeps sending out there so I’d been fine canning him too.

I get the whole ‘let the guy go out with some dignity on his own terms’ aspect but if you could calculate WAR for Managers he would surely be in the negative.

We lose so many games directly because of his decisions or lack thereof.

At some point to me a guy loses the privilege of going out of his own terms.

That's quite the IL ... and yet Iglasias is still going "strong" ;) ... It truly couldn't get much worse if they DFA'd him and brought in a rookie - unless they just don't want a rookie to get hammered, too.

At this point, I don't know why Elder was taken out in the 3rd. He had only thrown 63 pitches. Let him throw the magic # 100 and work because we don't really have anybody showing up who wants to do better. Make the starters suffer through it like everybody else is having to suffer. Elder had an aberation of a year in 2023. He's not good enough to pitch in the majors every 4 days.

also at this point, I'm giving the AA and AAA guys who will start from now on a pass. It's all on the guys who have been here and suck and the guys who are batting and suck. The team has all but quit IMHO.

AA needs to make some major moves TODAY and get rid of a bunch of guys to make a point. But they won't bc they all have big contracts. trade guys for minor league arms.

Ultimately, they need to BE PROFESSIONALS!

Olson has been hitting .290 for the last month and his avg is up to .265 now so I’ll acknowledge he’s been better at the plate.

Ozuna and Albies have been dreadful the last month.

I honestly had not noticed Harris playing better so hopefully he can turn things around.
Which, in my mind, begs the question: If you’re AA going into this off season, who on this roster is “untouchable” in terms of entertaining a trade outside of Acuna? Strider and Schwelly?

I mean the past few years the core of Acuna, Riley, Albies, and Harris were pretty much off limits in terms of listening to trade offers. After this season, I think it’s time to start at least “taking phone calls” on some of these guys.
