Link: London Simmons is Having a Great Freshman Season

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I think some HS kids don’t “do as well” because of the coaching they are receiving at that level. A college recruiter sees something and the kid gets better coaching and that raw talent gets developed and you see a star bloom. I’m not saying that’s what has happened with Simmons but I personally know of a kid who had this happen to him. The college coach actually told him he must have had a crappy HS coach cause his footwork sucks. Kid went from 5th string on day one to 2nd string in camp because he was actually being taught how to play his position.

Simmons is pleasant surprise for the team this year. The fact the young kids are playing better than some of the returning players is crazy!
That happened a lot during the Dubose years. It seemed that every year one of the freshmen would move into the rotation and outplay the older players. After a few years of that happening, it occurred to me that it wasn't because the freshmen were outstanding, but because the older players were not being developed.

I recall both being high 4/5 type of guys... But that was probably when we signed them.

Need some 5* dudes for sure... But gonna be important to have them, solid 3/4* development, and make the portal for plugging holes and icing on the cake. Having plenty of guys in the system for 2-4 years will still be of major importance.

There have been a couple of Freshman 3* DL that have played and played well in rotation. RF Faga and TF Simmons.

With the 3* kids contributing, I feel they are the kids that would normally go to Louisiana Monroe or Southern Miss and transfer to an Ole Miss or LSU after a proving they can play with a successful year. CKD is just skipping the middle man(college)

Anderson was the #5 overall recruit by 247 when he signed. Don’t remember where he started. I do remember the videos of him dominating at Camps and AA practices. Marlon Humphrey was a 5* top 10 national recruit as well. I remember all the talk about his speed .

Fagia has provided some good snaps... He is very good, but will be ultimately limited by his smaller frame. Nice guy to have to provide depth though.
