ICE Officer Kills Motorist In Minneapolis

"Officials said 64-year-old Harold Harper was killed in a random act of violence while he was gardening."

Sorry but I'll mourn the loss of this man WAY more than the mother of a young child who was left behind in child care so she could put herself into conflict with armed Federal agents.

Harold was in his OWN yard - minding his own business. Gardening, no less!

I'm not sure of the salience of exactly where her plates were from. Of course, I live in a city where I'm likely to see plates from a half-dozen states in a casual drive. We do beware of FL plates and pay them a bit of extra attention, particularly if we encounter them on one of the mountain roads...

it's just another attempted distraction. much like the whining about her being a lesbian and mentioning her pronouns

I have what is likely a dumb question. What authority does ICE have to order me out of my car or arrest me ? I'm not a party to Immigration regs. I understand if I am interfering with their work, I can be detained. But do they have the right to issue me commands if I'm minding my own business or at worst, give them finger in protest ?

Apparently, its under code sections .44m, 357m, and 9mm...

Hey, we've now reached the point where that oppressive regime that mandates we all get to buy Uzis because gubment is firing apparently at will on folks.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents shot two people in Portland on Thursday afternoon, according to the FBI, Portland police and city officials.

You're right about if it had been a pro life woman the right would be screaming, but also know the left would be silent. We have become so tribal that most only care about the death of those in their tribe.

each side is falling lockstep into their tribal calling.

Yep.

And if that woman had had a MAGA hat on the front seat, the very same people telling us it's a tragedy and this guy ought to go to jail would be snickering and saying, "Oh, the irony! She voted for this!"

Sadly, of course this is the case. The tribe that is distrustful of government is ok with the over-militarization of cities. The tribe that is for big government (the Constitution and economic common sense be damned) is now dismayed at what happens when you have a big government.

It's sad when someone's life is cut short, especially if they were minding their own business and got caught in wrong convergence of time and place. But, unfortunately, if you go out of your way to confront armed government agents, you're likely to find the trouble you're looking for. And oftentimes, the "find out" part is severe and near-instantaneous.

Regardless of how many innocent people are killed every day it doesn't detract from the egregious intentional killing of someone else apparently doing nothing seriously wrong.

I came across this and found it apropos.
Henry Ward Beecher (brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe) said, “The Federal government is unfit to exercise minor police and local government and will inevitably blunder when it attempts it. To oblige the central authority to govern half the territory of the Union by Federal civil officers and by the army, is a policy not only uncongenial to our ideas and principles, but preeminently dangerous to the spirit of our government. However humane the ends sought and the motive, it is in fact a course of instruction preparing our government to be despotic and familiarizing the people to a stretch of authority which can never be other than dangerous to liberty.”

Good quote. It's as true now as it ever was.
