ICE Officer Kills Motorist In Minneapolis

3) politics has NO business in a classroom except to discuss facts about how our elections work, the two party system, etc. Affirmation of political opinions like "only citizens should be able to vote", "biological men should be banned from women's sports: ,etc., have no "right" answer. It's all individual opinion. Teachers should NEVER express their political opinion in an educational setting. Hard stop.
I agree that teachers shouldn't express their political (or religious) opinions in class, but
too many "conservatives " want to redefine people as politics (not referring to you in particular @75thru79).

Teaching that gay or trans students exist, deserve dignity, and are protected under school policy is not a political opinion. It’s a fact of the classroom. Sexual orientation and gender identity are not policy preferences like voting law. They’re characteristics of actual students sitting in the room.

Saying “teachers should never express political opinions” is fine as a general rule. But treating a student’s identity as a political stance is itself a political move. It turns basic inclusion into an ideological controversy and tells certain kids that who they are is up for debate.

You can avoid partisan advocacy and still affirm that all students belong, are safe, and are respected. That’s not politics. That’s education.

that's also basic human decency

I cannot stand this current administration, but if the roles were reversed, I would still hate him isolating a specific group of red states and doing this. It's obvious that Trump has a vendetta against blue states. I am all for deporting criminals and murderers, but you cannot convince me that there's a swath of them posting up in Minnesota. I mean, is this OK(referencing the article below)? Maybe we should be asking if this is OK instead fretting over people who couldn't get sleep at a hotel because of protestors.

an update on this disgusting story. evil and incompetent are not good qualities for people who are allowed to use force, but they seem to make that a requirement of service

WHEN ICE AGENTS DETAINED U.S. citizen ChongLy Thao in Minneapolis this weekend—breaking down his door and escorting him half-naked into the snow—administration officials claimed they’d been looking for a pair of sex-criminal migrants at the address. DHS plastered images of the two men they were hunting across social media with dire warnings that they remained “at large,” imploring the public to call in tips.

But there was one place they apparently hadn’t bothered to look: the Minnesota prison system. That’s where Lue Moua, one of DHS’s purported targets, has been since a 2024 conviction on charges including felony kidnapping

Aides to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche directed the U.S. Attorney's office and FBI agents in Minnesota to shut down the civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of Renee Good and instead alter it to probe Good for possible criminal liability.

It sounded like a gun shot fired while the man is on the ground, and agents jumped back and returned fire. Don’t know who fired the first shot

Minneapolis will be burning by midnight

Removed due to a violation of Tidefans rules that I did not notice when I posted it. Sorry everyone.

Watched it - hard to tell what happened but the timing of the gunfire (one shot, pause, many shots) sounds a lot like he took and single shot and they returned fire.

But who knows at this point.
That’s what it sounded like, but video doesn’t confirm or deny. You just can’t see

I’ll edit.
CNN reported a crowd of about 800 around the Border Patrol activity. I’m betting there will be more video forthcoming.

One of the police chiefs CNN ( maybe Boston) had on said it was justifiable if the man had a firearm and made a motion like he was reaching for it. He also said swarm tactics aren’t taught or used by reputable law enforcement.
