The Decline of the DNC IV

I’m not even a fan of the tweeter but there’s hardly a context to make this stuff innocent.

AOC: "If you're in this country and you aren't black, you benefited from a system of white supremacy.”

ETA: to those who wish to make the privilege argument (and that IS valid), insisting the bulk of your voters benefited from something might be factual but it’s not a very smart way to win presidential elections either

That's a pretty embarrassing blunder.

Things that go over well at a $1,000 per plate Democratic fundraiser do not necessarily go over well in the real world.

And - of course - the very same people who have parsed Trump's words with a microscope for a decade now (at times misrepresenting him) act like her saying dumb things is okay. "Oh, you're being nitpicky, it doesn't matter where Venezuela is."

It's why it's hard to take the "I just tell the truth" admonition seriously from anyone in politics.

Confirmational bias.

What is unfortunate is that too many of the "we need her as President" aficionados are going with, "She really killed it there." No, she came across as dumber than Sarah Palin. There is no redeeming this. Look, I know what's coming: "But George W and the world leaders and blah blah" in 1999. But nobody ever insisted George W was some sort of "smarter than the rest of us and we should be thankful for having him" candidate, either.

Folks - lying to yourselves over what everyone else saw SHOULD have gone out of style with what happened in 2024.

AOC: Republicans and conservatives are "radicalizing and exploiting young boys" and pushing them towards a "masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them."

Ever notice how many "women of color" in the Democratic Party talk all that nonsense about white supremacy - and then marry white guys? AOC, Kamala, KBJ (SCOTUS), Ilhan Omar, and even Don Lemon.

They're GRIFTING, folks!!!

Yes, just like Casino Destroyale.

See, folks, if you're a Democrat and you talk positively about RELIGION......that makes you a REPUBLICAN in the "all or nothing" world of hardcore leftism.

thinking he’ll appeal to your MAGA ass family that you’re too afraid to confront at Thanksgiving, that you think presenting a Democratic candidate than can quote scripture will move them.

OK, folks, let's go back over the Democrats who have WON THE WHITE HOUSE in the last 60 years:

Jimmy Carter - the born again Southern Baptist (Okay, that was a different time, fine)
Bill Clinton - also a Southern Baptist, not so devout but not anti-religion
Barack Obama - I mean, we all knew what his pastor preached, right?
Joe Biden - talked about his Catholic faith and how it helped when he lost his family, etc.

Talarico, who has been mis-citing the Bible, is now a "MAGA plant."

Uh, okay.

And time would prevent me from telling the stories of Hillary's faith getting her through her husband's peccadilloes or Liebermann's Judaism or Tim Walz's Scientology....

She needs to focus on the failures and outrages of the Trump Administration and the GOP rather than continuing with accusations like these. Even if there is some truth to it, it’s counterproductive when it comes to reaching many of those outside of the dedicated Trump voter. These sound bites don’t do anything to help the Democrats in November.

Democratic Playbook
Page 1 - that's racist
Page 2 - bring up identities to divide
Page 3 - abortion

Then again, the GOP playbook has shrunk from the master class created over 30-plus years to:
Page 1 - Trump is God

So......

Precisely my point in posting this. Not to mention, Democrat males have this (undeserved) reputation of being cuckold beta-males who couldn't change a tire if their lives depended on it. Crap like this isn't exactly helping. Personally, I have many Dem friends and they are, for the most part, just like me, but with differing politics.

This cuts to the heart of why Dems are so underwater right now. Most Dems are decidedly NOT anti-white, anti-male, anti-Christian, etc. However, the minority seems to always be the louder side of the divide in that party and it IS a problem (especially among Gen-Z males.) How many times, on this very board, have I bemoaned the fact that the liberals are being shouted down by the progressives? Goodness, more times than I can count.

The Crockett supporters are grasping at the usual strawmen to put down their opponent. No one is supporting Talarico because they think he’ll appeal to MAGA voters or that he’s a good Christian guy. Trump voters clearly don’t care whether a candidate behaves as a Christian and it’s a non-issue for most everyone else.

Mainstream Democrats have let their party and positions be defined by the far left and Republicans. Identity politics has destroyed the image of the party in the minds of many.

Most Democrats are certainly not anti-white, anti-male, or anti-Christian. But perception drives politics, and when the loudest voices sound like they are scolding or judging instead of persuading, voters tune out.

That is a real problem with those who might otherwise agree with us on jobs, healthcare, and the cost of living but feel like they are being lectured by intolerant extremists.

This is not about attacking progressives. It is about recognizing that tone and messaging shape how the entire party is seen.

If we want to rebuild trust and win elections, we need to sound like we actually want people on our side. There has been more than enough ammunition provided by Trump for Democrats to run on. Trotting out the same old message of division isn’t going to get the job done.
