As Iran protesters face ruthless crackdown, Trump says help 'on its way' (report from PBS)

Perhaps, I’m totally open to these actions having nothing to do with the Epstein files. I think this has been brewing for a long time, but like @81usaf92 I doubt we have the end game fully figured out as much as we might hope…

I probably should have used blue font with my remarks. I'm not going to get worked up about the Iran thing until I see what happens.

At the core of all of this - he doesn't want a war nor boots on the ground and would rather try diplomacy.

For someone to say this is somehow about Epstein is absurd.

If Trump doesn’t want war or boots on the ground, then we won’t see either. If we do, it was his decision. I hope he chooses wisely.

Again I ask... To what end? If replacing the regime is the goal then you better have a plan in place to deal with the enormous power vacuum that you are about to unleash if you are successful and the fact that you are about to prove the regime right if you cant.

This more seems like a case of "I did it in Venezuela and didnt get bit so I can do it anywhere that doesnt have the capabilities to fight back" logic. However, I fear that this will go down as one of the most moronic things we have ever done next to invade Afghanistan in our modern history. I would like to be proven wrong but I only think this is another this is just another "I got to compare myself to a great president" ego move.
In Venezuela, all he's done so far is leave the same kleptocrats in charge. IDK how he'll accomplish that with the mullahs. I fear another quagmire. You'd think we'd learn...

1) I think Trump is assuming that everything the military does is successful and surgical, but toppling regimes is rarely simple.

2) Wag the dog

The problem I see is the only floated idea going around is replacing it with the Palavias. Which be disastrous because 1) they were never popular leaders and 2) Israel is the one coming up with the idea. I don’t think there has been any real planning behind regime change other than “we do it and our popularity numbers go up”.

No one in the ME will cry for the Persians being toppled but the long term effects will be disastrous. I think occupation is inevitable if regime change is the goal. Not because we want it but because it’s going to lead to other more complex wars that will completely plunge us into a global economic crisis.
