No Kings Day - 2025-2026-2027-2028

I think the critique is that his behaviour tends to the autocratic. Not a king yet, but fears are he is headed that way.
Thank you. That was the point being made by the protesters. We didn't get to go. Health situations which are hanging around and refusing to go AWAY!!! But our friends were at ones down here and in other parts of the country. When the West Palm Beach group tried to go over the bridge to Palm Beach and near Mar-a-Lago, they were met by a line of police so they stood where they were and continued the protest from that spot. No argument or force and definitely no violence. There were a couple of Trump supporters standing nearby with signs but they also stayed in bounds. That seems to be the way it went across the country, in general. I have seen nothing indicating that people wandered where they were not allowed.

For me - the fact that they were waving American flags - made ALL the difference in the world for me to try and understand their message.

I have nothing against Mexico, mind you. But please don't wave their flags while protesting - unless you are in Mexico, of course.
It seems that he tries to defy all law. It doesn't always work but he keeps at it. He has no respect for the idea of three branches of government and actively works against it. When he does something unconstitutional, most Republican legislators defend him and make excuses. That part wouldn't be all that weird if it weren't for the fact that he seems hellbent on doing it constantly, every day and all day long. This parade of his? Flag Day? The Army's anniversary? What about the other branches of our military? Will he want another somewhat less than enthusiastic yet ridiculously expensive show of might for those anniversaries, too? It was for his birthday, get real. And it didn't come off all that well because they don't do a lot of big, national "shows of might". After we've won wars they paraded but that was genuine happiness, enthusiasm and great relief on parade. Trump has seen too much film footage of "military might and power" coming from countries who are traditionally our enemies. That was probably his dream. He's like most bullies. He's vain and easily wounded. He needs this for purposes of vanity. He demands loyalty---to him and not the nation. That's why the No Kings protests were on the same day. There is a No Kings Act before Congress. It's to counter what SCOTUS decided, which granted him immunity from prosecution as long as he can show that his actions were related to his core powers as President. Well, gee, given the fanciful finagling his legal teams are known for....whaduyathink might happen with that? No kings since 1776. I hope we can keep it that way. I hope we can avoid dictatorship and authoritarianism.

So was the protest about kings or about ice arrests? I don’t see why you would protest a law enforcement agency enforcing the law. or Was it the anti Trump military parade protest. I don’t understand that either. The USA celebrated their 250th birthday Saturday, to me, that’s where every Americans attention should have been . Celebrating the men and Women of a branch of the Armed Forces that have kept the freedom for the right to protest.

We had one of these rallies where I live. A very good friend went and had invited me. I was going to go but had to opt out due to an out of town guest.

I did drive past and saw a counter-protester holding a Confederate flag. I guess he should have gone to the Confederacy but it doesn’t exist so I guess he is stuck here. I appreciated the irony of a guy waving a flag of a country that killed over 300,000 members of the YS Military on a day we had a big parade honoring the 250th birthday of the Army.

I did say something to him about his flag I can’t repeat here but I don’t think he liked what I had to say.

The No Kings protests were about Trump and all the shenanigans he's pulling. Do you know about this one https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/military/new-rule-va-refuse-treatment-politics/ This is the person who is supposed to be leading our country. Maybe you're just fine with this kind of stuff but I am not.

Liberals Want Obama to be a King, Not a President

What’s clear is that the liberals speaking out don’t want a president, they want a king. Albeit a liberal king – but still a king, who would be unrestrained by Congress as well as the checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution.

This sounds familiar. I started to put this in the "Executive Overreach" thread, but it seems more relevant here.

These disenchanted liberals apparently wanted Obama – upon taking office – to have instantly transformed every campaign promise into law by the simple wave of a pen. Or maybe they would have preferred Obama to have walked out onto a White House balcony where, in a scene reminiscent of the musical “Evita,” he would be greeted by adoring throngs waiting below, and on the spot, declare that all his ideas were now the law of the land.

This certainly sounds like a lot of Trumpers, but one thing I've noticed is that some are turning their rage on to the so-called "RINOS" in Congress. Clearly not all of them are as ignorant about law-making as some would have us believe.

But here’s the problem. Barack Obama is not a king, he’s the president of the United States. For those who may have forgotten the “Schoolhouse Rock” cartoon of “How a bill becomes a law,” Congress needs to first pass the bill before it has any chance of becoming a law.

Hammer, meet nail. Maybe we should force every person who wants a drivers license or photo ID to watch Schoolhouse Rock before they can be approved for anything state-issued.

For quite a while now, I've found it funny that, in an effort to keep blacks from voting, southern states would have black people answer questions about the government before letting them enter polling places. I happen to know for a fact that some of the whites asking those questions didn't know the answers themselves. These days, I know a LOT of them wouldn't.

There's no question about THAT for sure. For God's sake, we have a sitting U.S. Senator who doesn't even know the three branches of government! (He was a great fit at Auburn for a multitude of reasons.) When I watch politically-driven "street interviews", I always cringe. Yeah, they usually make their party or their demo look bad, but the truth is, they make us ALL look bad. We are living in a time when the question, "was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" is no longer a joke in a classic movie, but a genuine question by any college-aged student.

I've seen some videos of protestors getting run over when they try to stop vehicles by placing themselves in front of the vehicle.

Let me clarify. It's just them and their body against the vehicle.

They place themselves right in front of the vehicle - hands on the hood. Legs braced and everything.

Like right in front of the front bumper

I'm not kidding.

There are people that are actually actually doing this!

Good Lord.......how stupid do you have to be to do something like this?

Young No Kings protestor trying to hard to remember the script. 🤣

“Well I hate Trump because, well he’s doing everything. Um, he’s making it a crime to be trans, he’s immigrate. Um, he’s deporting people who are like legal immigrants. And he’s deporting people who are not even immigrants, people were born here. He’s just doing all these horrible horrible things. He doesn’t even like, he’s denying climate change exists, dirtying the world”

“How is he making it a crime to be trans?”

“Well I’ve heard that in an article and from some of my friends but I don’t know if that’s true or not. But I wouldn’t put it past him.”

The fact he doesn’t know his facts but will still protest anyways is wild. We are really doomed by the left.
