What % do you think obesity contributes to the health problems in our country? (ETA - and why is rucking the best answer? :) ) Part II

I have. Mine was not so good, hence the uptick in my exercise
Mine wasn’t good either. I am going to see a cardiologist on Monday. I thought I would have some since I have had cholesterol issues. I’m interested in hear what the Dr. has to tell me. I am going to up my exercise level as well.

After my not so good news, I had to go for a stress test. Ran on a treadmill and stuff. Every reading came back normal. So I was told proper diet and exercise would help me. Probably gotta do all this again soon. Probably after my annual physical this April.

This is a great tool. Doesn't cost much, nor require a doctors order. I don't understand why more doctors don't encourage people to do this.
Mine talked to me about it because of my cholesterol numbers. I waited until February because they give a discount because it was "American Heart Month".

My grandparents ate like this all the time. They were 90 and 87 when they died. I have an uncle that also eats like this. He love Cracker Barrel. He is well into his 90s and still drives and runs a business.
Yeah, but unless you work at it if you eat that way now you’re consuming countless chemicals (like glyphosate) that they did not.

My new S8 Galaxy watch has a "backpacking" setting. It asks for how much weight you are carrying. Seems like that is just a rucking setting. Might try it out tonight.

You might think that is just a hiking setting but you would be wrong. There is a separate setting for hiking.

There's a rather complicated formula for figuring out rucking calories, but it should show you burning more than hiking or walking.

I had never even heard of rucking as a sport/pastime until the past couple months.

When we went to Europe two years ago, I picked up a 30L travel backpack, knowing that we would be travelling minimalist, flying those cheap European airlnes in between cities.

I really didn't train for carrying the weight. I was doing a lot of running, but that really doesn't translate to carrying a load. So I struggled a bit, particularly when traveling from airport to hotel, etc.

We are going to Spain April 19-30, and this time around, I put a bunch of weight in my pack to simulate 20 lbs of actual stuff. And I've been doing 4-6 mile hikes with a loaded pack.

I then discovered that there are others out there doing this thing called "rucking". I invested in a GoRuck 4.0. For the past couple weeks, I have been using it. It's definitely a workout. I'm always feeling it after a long hike. I started with the 20 lb weight, but I can go up if I need to 40-45 lbs. Not sure if I'm ever going to do it.

Since retiring in December, I have been focusing on functional fitness. Doing HIIT 2-3 times a week. Now, I do a ruck 2-3 times a week on off-days. I'm in the best shape in about a decade.....from the last time I did HIIT really hard about 10 years ago.

This is awesome, keep it up!

Part of the Silver Comet Connector is closed again. There was a detour, but didn't take it. I started, but changed my mind. I ended up going back and doing the Silver Comet to Concord Road to Atlanta Road. 20 miles total. 2 bike rides this week for the first time since September. Trying to mix things up with rucking, hiking, and biking.
