President says 250th celebration on July 4 will be a ‘Trump rally’

The previously planned event for the country’s anniversary will feature the president’s playlist and his keynote address, he said.

President Donald Trump said Monday he would be closely involved in a marquee celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary, casting the July 4 event on the National Mall as one of his own rallies.

“We are going to host the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all, a ‘TRIBUTE TO AMERICA,’” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. The event will feature the planned largest fireworks show in history, call attention to Trump’s changes to the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool, and feature a selection of patriotic and classic songs — including Trump’s own playlist, the president added.

“There will be incredible Flyovers and Airshows featuring our Top Military Pilots and Equipment, and I will deliver keynote remarks that you will not want to miss,” Trump wrote. The event is set to be between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, he said.

Some July 4 quotes from prior presidents:

Bill Clinton, 2000: “It is up to us to reject the forces of hatred that would seek to divide us and instead embrace our common humanity and the values, history, and heritage we share as Americans.”

George H. W. Bush, 1991: “When we hear the words ‘Fourth of July,’ we think of family… and our American family, united in pride, united in patriotism.”

Joe Biden, 2022:
“This day reminds us of what brought us together long ago, what binds us still, and at our best, what we strive for. It’s ‘We, the people.’”

Ronald Reagan, 1986:
“And so tonight we reaffirm that Jew and gentile, we are one nation under God; that black and white, we are one nation indivisible; that Republican and Democrat, we are all Americans.”

Ronald Reagan, 1986:
“It is especially fitting that it should be celebrated as a family holiday and a community holiday, because it commemorates our solemn bonding together as a new nation — the American Family.”

Ronald Reagan, 1986:
“Their courage created a nation built on a universal claim to human dignity, on the proposition that every man, woman, and child had a right to a future of freedom.”

Lyndon Johnson, 1967:
“Of all the blessings of our Nation, freedom is surely the most precious. It has given us not only prosperity as a people, but pride in ourselves and a secure place in mankind’s history.”

Calvin Coolidge, 1926:
“Amid all the clash of conflicting interests, amid all the welter of partisan politics, every American can turn for solace and consolation to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States…”

We'll see what message of inspiration and unity Trump delivers to the nation next month.

I'm not too optimistic. We will probably get the rhetorical equivalent of Trump hugging an American flag. And the same degree of sincerity.

The institution of the United States is bigger than one person and duty means subordinating one's interests to something bigger than himself.

Just saw this was reported on CBS! It obviously needs to be verified.

JD Vance just confirmed that in fact, there will be a $300B reconstruction fund that will go to Iran with the MOU.
Trump said they would get no money, and that the report that had this, and the $25B in assets that would be freed, was false.
It turns out, Vance is confirming all of the points that Iran had said were in the deal.
We're releasing $25B in frozen assets, removing sanctions on them, and giving them access to $300B in reconstruction funds.
They've also said that the MOU states they have control of traffic in the strait, and that the US military has to remove all personnel from the area.

A Trump Rally is a tribute to Trump, not America. It is so disgusting that he is president for this anniversary. In 2016, Congress created America250, a bipartisan commission meant to plan celebrations for this year. Then, Trump and the Epstein Administration come along and create a competing group, Freedom250, made up of conservative and faith-based groups, which seems to be more about celebrating and focusing on Trump. So disgusting what he has done to this country.

Well, Trump was right, this is not the same deal Obama had, it's worse. It also came with lost American lives and dead innocent Iranian civilians, but hey, Kegseth got to play with his toys.

Trump has been imasculated in this whole ordeal...

He will be touting it as the best deal yet.

As for comparison, I wonder what the terms if Obama's deal was with Iran?

Was the 250th ever not going to be a celebration of his narcissistic greatness?

That toughman competition on the White House grounds was a symbolic Taco Bell burrito dump on the American people. And as much as 30+% of the country was ok with it.

I don't really care one way or the other and I've zero interest in combat sports. That said, I've been surprised at the number of people that enjoyed the fights. I cannot wrap my head around it.

I'm just ignoring it all and enjoying all the positive vibes from the world cup instead. So far its mostly working

Watching the college world series games as well. Working on my motorcycle hobby. Taking care of my work responsibilities. And enjoying a little summer beach vibe.

To each their own - but I can easily live with much of what I see people complaining about......

Good friend sent me this....."Was in Florida last week for England friendly matches before World Cup started.

Flying to Dallas tomorrow for game on Wednesday v Croatia. Then to Boston on Sunday for game versus Ghana that Tuesday. Then to New York for game at end of week versus Panama."

He's with his eldest son.

English, but has lived here for many years, dual citizenship, Yankee wife, 3 grown kids - all doing well on their own.

Huge space enthusiast. We have attended a few Canaveral launches together. He lives in Michigan and also has a place on Fripp Island.

The Brits and their soccer......3 Lions.......say no more.....lol......

That should be a ton of fun. I am lucky enough that I'm going to a France game in Philly and a Round of 16 game in Seattle(hopefully the US make it to that game). IMO the World Cup is the greatest sporting event in the world and it is not remotely close.
