I was a little disturbed that Oakland took two catchers

in the first 2 rounds of the draft. To me that doesn't bode well for Jeremy Brown, especially since he's been hurt on and off.

Joe Vitiello called up by Expos

I went to check on the gamecast to see why today's Expos game has been delayed (power outage at Stade Olympique - big shock), and I noticed Joe in the Expos' starting lineup. He was apparently called up on Sunday and will play 1st base from time to time. He's 0/1 in 1 appearance but will start...

    Rice national champions

The game was a blowout, but I'm very happy for Rice. It makes me feel even better to say that although we had a partially "down" season, we still beat the national champions head to head this year.

Houston won the afternoon game 7-6 but A+M blows a 6-2 lead in the 8th and 9th and they're going to extra frames

Gammons chimes in on Peter Stonard

He seems to think he will still get drafted pretty high come June.

Are we going to be able to play today?

The rain has nearly stopped on the eastern end of town and it's still an hour before the game starts. Radar says it's all over for now, but I'm wondering if the field got too soaked in the meantime to be playable. I know there's a time rule for Sunday SEC games, but I'm wondering if they might...
