The punt returns were awesome to watch yesterday. I'm speculating that a lot more punts will be headed to the sidelines.
But what happened on the punt snap that was downed inside the five? Why was the ball hiked so far right? And did number 10 touch the ball? Maybe it was just part of the third...
“And while Saban was mostly positive about the effort Alabama showed Saturday in the think (sic) Austin heat, he noted one moment from an unnamed receiver that impacted the passing game.
“With a run-pass option play called, Saban said a receiver ran half speed and threw off the whole timing...
Remember the discussions of having an assistant on staff ready to step in as HC when the time came? Don't hear that much anymore. Instead, it seems important to have a QB in waiting as LSU and Oklahoma and Georgia and probably others are all losing quarterbacks, some after just a year on the...
LSU Wanted to Beat Alabama. First It Had to Beat LSU
The Tigers are ranked No. 2 headed into their showdown against the No. 3 Crimson Tide after embracing the future and reassessing the conservative style of play that had been the school’s identity...
For you policy wonks, what's your analysis of the play calling this year compared to last? Or is it too early to tell as the competition won't stiffen for a few weeks? Are there most pass attempts to backs this year? Is the offensive line so unsettled that a running game we've seen in years past...
I hope the link works and is not behind a paywall. Harper Lee was a Bama fan, of course, and wrote letters about Bear Bryant! Interesting tale.

A Wall Street Journal article about a Saban investment in Baton Rouge.
I hope the link works.

Oklahoma wins the toss, and analysts are thinking Oklahoma will receive to put their strength on the field to open the game. Instead, they defer to second half, Bama grabs the momentum and before you know, it is 28-0. A strategic mistake by Riley? You assume this decision was made well before...

Interesting read from the WSJ this morning. The part about the holder makes sense.
Roll Tide!
It's interesting an assistant has never beaten Saban. This will come to pass, presumably, in the next few years. But I'm amazed at fan bases who think hiring a Saban assistant will automatically bring wins to the school. I think Pruitt at Tennessee and Locksley at Maryland will be two examples...
Coach Saban has instilled resiliency in his teams over the years. Seems to be a rare coaching trait as you watch team after team fold in pressure situations.
If you follow the ESPN win percentage tracker, Georgia was favored by 94.6% with nine minutes to go in the third quarter and the Dawgs...
I admit it - I'm an irrational Tide fan living in Virginia whose game time comments get salty! I was frustrated in the first half with the offense, but I was convinced it was the play calling and not the execution.
After Tua went in, it became obvious to me that the play calling was fine, it...
I found Ben Litvin on Twitter and have been reading his game analysis, which can be found here:

I’m curious, who is Ben?
Roll Tide
Granted I'm just an armchair observer but it appeared the play calling last night did not make adjustments for LSU's defensive schemes. And there definitely didn't appear to be adjustments after halftime. Those three and outs kill your defense. What happened to passes over the middle or rolling...
Sorry for long title...but wondering if anyone knew who the person that was texting on the sideline and lost his phone to Cochran? It was shown on television during the game in the fourth quarter. He just walked up, snatched the phone and put it in his back pocket. Whoever it was didn’t...
When I went back to see when Alabama took possession on the final drive of the game, I was stunned. The stats:
15 plays
59 yards
11 minutes and 45 minutes - almost 80% of the fourth quarter.
Alabama started the drive just three minutes, 15 seconds into the quarter. I don't think I've ever...
"I make my practices real hard because if a player is a quitter, I want him to quit in practice, not in a game." Bear Bryant / Alabama
"It isn't necessary to see a good tackle, you can hear it!” - Knute Rockne / Notre Dame

"We have reached the point in the college-football season when the entire sport pauses to contemplate what seems like the same exact question every single year: Can anyone slay Alabama?"
