:cool2: As we approach the 2004 College Football season, i have a few predictions of my own. I believe that Southern Cal has the easiest inroad to appear in the national championship. This is due to their PAC-10 schedule and the obvious talent they bring back. USC is well coached and will not take any team lightly {CAL will be on their minds}. Who they meet and perform in the NC is another story. My next prediction has to be Florida State. This team's MAKE OR BRAKE game will the first one of the season with Miami. IF and is a big IF beat Miami @ Miami, they run the table in the ACC. Bowden has enough talent and good staffing to get this deed done. He wants one more for the road and this could be his "last chance", otherwise, he may not be remember as a legend in the annals of CF. This season should be one of the more exciting ones because it could be anybody's race. My favorite "dark horses" for this year are Ohio State, Virginia, Kansas State, Michigan and Alabama {why not?!?}

:eek2: Now, let's discuss the polls/magazines/and the so-called experts choices for the 2004 season. Aside from the clear on favorite USC, we shall examine the other top picks who i believe will fall short for various reasons:

1.Oklahoma- A]Texas, it's now or never B]Kansas State will be the BIG-12 boss C] Nebraska, YES Nebraska!! renew rivalry game and new coach/system will make this a good late season game D]BIG-12 has become harder to compete E]Oklahoma has been rank in the top five since their 2000 NC and 3x since thereafter BOMB and will again this year. Stoops claims his team is even better than the previous ones. With most of the talent gone, i believe it when i see it. Bama should have won in Norman when his "team" was better than ours!! Look what happens when they meet an SEC oppenent {LSU ring a bell}.

2.LSU- A]SEC schedule enough said B] untested at QB/ DL revamping C]tough to repeat in the SEC, esp. SEC champs D]THIS IS LSU afterall, don't let the hype get to you!!

3.Georgia- A]SEC schedule enough said B]0-3 against the Florida C] David Greene can't get the job none D]running game? E] Georgia waited 20+ for an SEC title and they will have to wait another 20+ for a NC!

These are my humble opinions for the upcoming season. We shall see, won't we?

Hmmm, let me put it this way...............Iwouldn't let either one of you pick any parlay cards for me.

Cali, Diddy is a cfb legend regardless of what he does this year or any other year.

Another Darkhorse...

might well be West Virginia. They should have beaten Miami last year  They gave up that pass to the "solider" Winslow (still hate him more than anyone.) Just keep an eye on W. Virginia. Could be surprising (although they are in the mighty poweful Big East!! )

Less than 2 weeks!!
ROLL TIDE!!

jdpas hate to break it to ya bro but texas will NOT make the title game  they cant make the big 12 title game much less the n.c. and bamarunner w.virginia is a team that will continue to be overlooked until they win their conference. their coach knows what he is doin and they are getting better and better every year.

RTRCAM, you have one of the teams in the Orange Bowl correct and it AIN'T Oklahoma! : :p

BAMA4RUNNER30, W.Virginia is a very good choice as one of the "dark horse" for 2004 season

TOMMYMAC, since you won't place your bets on the the picks made by me or JDPAS29 then would you care to express who you "THINK" is going to the big dance or the "dark horses" for the 2004 season. i'm dying to know.

U-A, "WE DON'T LOSE IN BATON ROUGE!!!"

ROLL TIDE UNTIL THE DAY I DIE!!! :BigA:

I think USC will make it, probably against the Sooners or UGA, but I'm not counting out LSU either.

West Va. is a good choice for a darkhorse, I think Virginia might surprise some folks too.

West Va has a favorable schedule, but they have no previous track record of that LEVEL of success, so I say no to them.

USC looks, to me anyway, like they are going to be over-inflated in the early polls, and I think they lose to Oregon State and to Washington. That makes them miss even the Rose.

LSU will be awesome again, but look for an upset late in the season. Who? A certain team up I-59 might just do it.....roll tide......

OU is my pick to contend again. And I think they will meet Georgia for the NC. OU wins. FSU loses early to Miami, then loses again late in the season to Clemson.

One final thing: This will be Gary Barnett's last year at Colorado. Too many offseason distractions, and that program has come under too much fire. As always, all will be forgiven if they win. They won't. he's gone.

Phil Fulmer will be the head coach at UT until he decides to quit. I don't care who tells you otherwise. Tennessee wins MUCH more than they lose, and they have a MNC under his watch. he's there for good.

If Florida is anything less than 8-3, 7-4 maybe, Ron Zook is gone, and Steve Spurrier will be back. It won't be the same as he left it.

Dennis Franchione has a mediocre season at aTm, and they get their butts beat by Alabama in the Independence.

Joe Paterno hangs it up after a losing effort in 2004. Louisville wins the C-USA.

All of this, and monkey's will fly out of John Kerry's rectum. Hope you weren't eating breakfast on that last one!!!

USC may not have the toughest schedule in the country, but I would pencil them in as champions even if they did. (Notice that I said "pencil" because it means that I get an eraser if I need one. ;)).

As for FSU, I don't see them winning the championship. No team lead by Chris Rix is going to make the title game. But then again, a year ago I said the exact same thing about Matt Mauck. I am still trying to figure out which is going to be the other team to predict in the title game, becuase all teams (except for USC) have some weaknesses. I kinda like the winner of the Florida-UGA game to go, but I keep on going back and forth as to the winner of it.

I agree LSU has a tough if not impossible repeat of the National Title, if (Any SEC Team) had the luxury of playing in the Pac-10 I would assure an undefeated record, conversly if USC was in the ACC, Big 12 or SEC, they would lose 2-3 games at a minimum.

Texas - No way

OU - Very possible Big 12 is down right now.....

I see OU vs Miami...

OU winning in a landslide.

I think this is the year that UGA puts it all together. Biggest tests? LSU and UT back to back, fortunately for the Dawgs 'tween the Hedges, and they've got to get over the FLorida jinx. They have a very solid QB in Greene (regardless of what some might think) and a solid team, with the only real question marks at RB with Lumpkin out and on special teams trying to replace Bennett.

Oklahoma has a history of reloading under Stoops, so it's silly to count them out. Ever.

LSU will lose one they really shouldn't and lose early: You heard it here first, and not 'cause I want it to happen, but I believe they roll into the Barn week 3 and get beat. Just a hunch. They also have a murderer's row in with Auburn M$U (a breather?) UGA and UF back to back to back to back. AU, UGA and UF are all on the road. I think they are for real if they only lose one, and realistically could lose all three. I think they split those two, losing to UGA and AU. They finish with another tough stretch, Alabama, Ole Miss and Arkansas. And don't forget, they are breaking in a new QB which is good for at least one extra loss in SEC play.

USC has the best schedule bar none, as aside form them who else is in the PAC 10, really, and I think they'll not repeat the mistake of overlooking anyone this season.

Whoever wins the FSU/Miami game will also be on track .

Let's tee it up!

Richt has really put UGA on top of UT recently and at home I don't expect any different with such a damn good D and a new QB at UT.

4DaTIDE,
Everything you said was on the money and you reinterated what i stated in the original post but with more details regarding LSU's schedule. :)
I still don't agreed that UGA has the MUGSY to put it together this year even if the 2 biggest games {LSU and UT} are at home.
Most people on this board pretty much are on the same page when believing that USC has a soft schedule and will most likely be there for the NC. ;)
One more thing, Stoops has been with OU for five years or so. I really don't think he has a "history" of reloading, unless 5 years is now considered loooong!
