The forecasters are saying Michigan will probably end up with only five or six wins this season and I can't see the Wolverines tolerating another season like that. My guess is he will have to win seven or eight games to keep his job; we shall see. Another blow to his chances is the NCAA nosing around. Michigan football has a long history of running a clean program, at least until he showed up. Not good.

Les Miles missed his chance to make the move to Michigan while he was on top of the world. Not so sure they will welcome him with open arms now. I'm thinking that the Hat will stay put until LSU gets fed up. Probably a couple of more years will wind him up, if LSU can afford the expensive buyout.

Out with the old, in with the new. He turned Michigan upside down and inside out. Add to that NCAA troubles and losing games, and there is no way he hangs on to his job even if he wins seven games. Dead man walking.

RichRod is the only one I feel confident won't survive. Poor record plus NCAA woes make this pick a no-brainer.

Haden has a dilemma at USC. He's saddled with Garrett's boneheaded pick for HC. The program will obviously have turmoil over the next few years due to NCAA sanctions. Does he create more turmoil by unloading the Kiffin crew after this season; or grit his teeth, hunker down, and hope the Kiffin crew can get 'em through the next few years without more violations. I think he puts Kiffin on a short leash but lets him stay a few years so long as there's no hint of more NCAA problems. Kiff's crew can recruit, and that'll be even more important with the loss of scholarships.

Miles stays at LSU unless Michigan comes calling. I expect Michigan to go after Jim Harbrough (sp?), so no changes at LSU.

Colorado may be in for a buyout payment to the Big 12. I don't see 'em unloading Hawkins after this season.

Hard to see Dan Hawkins, Paul Wulff, Ron Zook, or Rich Rod having long careers at their current place.
What about Dennis Erickson?
In his three years, he's gone 10-3, 5-7, and 4-8. Dirk Koetter, his predecessor, was fired for being a 7/8 win coach. If Erickson wins 4, 5, or 6 games, I'd say he'd at least be on the very hot seat.

If Rich Rod gets canned, and there is a very good chance he will, I too look for Michigan to approach Jim Harbaugh. Les Miles's stock is pretty much like the dot.coms a few years back, he really has no where to go if LSU shows him the door, unless Illinois, who will unload Zook, wants a Michigan man at their helm.

IMO, Richt is safe for another couple of seasons, it is hard to fire someone who has his kind of record, unless you are Frank Solich. If either LSU or UGA were to look for a replacement after this season, Gary Patterson might be the recipent of a bidding war. Patterson might also be a target of TAMU. Lots of potential openings at the end of this season.

How do you fire a coach that consistently wins 8+ games but can't win the conference?

You don't. You make him so uncomfortable he leaves on his own. So paranoid and uncomfortable he begins to make up stories of people throwing bricks through his window. That's the way I'd do it.

This is true. Kiffin and his bunch can recruit, but the question is how do they do it. They were only at UT a year and already have the NCAA snooping around. If you think they don't have to do that at USC I can see that argument, but this bunch apparently thinks they are so much smarter than everybody else that they have to push the envelope just to see if they can get away with it.

If Kiffin sticks for 3 years, I can see USC replacing him with a real coach who uses his talent to contend for the NC. I can also see the NCAA shortly behind. I think they are on to ol' Lane.

Well, I would have to say Miles would be the first to go this year, but he has it stated in his contract that if LSU has 8 regular season wins that he will automatically get a contract extension and LSU does not have the money to buy him out. This is according to some sources that are within the program.

Richt is held in high esteem at UGA, the fact he has not won a NC is not as big a deal as it is at Alabama and Florida. He has 10 years of capital built up and until he has back to back 6-5 or 5-6 seasons he isn't going anywhere unless he decides to leave. If he wins 8-9 games a year he is safe. The only caveat to that is at some point he has got to beat UF.

I agree, living over here in GA all the dawg fans I know are fairly happy with him.

He's a "good man" ya know......

I agree Richt has a record of winning equal to Dooley minus the national championship. How long did it take Dooley to win one?" 10 years or more.

I've already heard people calling for Mike Leach when Erickson is fired after this year.

I can't hep but wonder if Harbaugh burned his bridges with michigan when he made his comments about their academics. Maybe not, but I wonder......

Excellent suggestion. But ya gotta have a strong arm to throw the brick that high.

I have a feeling Meeshegin would welcom him with open arms. It's not like Rich instills very much confidence in academics.

Looks like expectations are high down on the Bayou!

You may be right about Harbaugh's comments, but IMO his success at a higher academic school and the fact that he is a Michigan man may lead to short term
memory loss on the part of the search committee.

I think that is this year or next. He can't lose to florida the next two years and keep his job, imo, unless he wins 10 each year.
