Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood

I know that next years RB class is loaded but the WR class is just scary for the talent in it.
Not to dismiss your comment as inaccurate in any way, but we've made comments like that the last three year about WRs, and sadly it just hasn't panned out as a group. I'll have to take a wait and see attitude. Hopeful, too.

i think he meant the overall class not UA's class in particular.

That being said we have brought in very talented WR's and some have developed into very good wr's but they are young. kind of ridiculous to expect Freshman to immediately pan out.

Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood

Not to bicker but the product on the field outside of Julio and maybe year 4 of Maze (in the last three years, regardless of class year) has been wrought with aligator arms, very little fighting for the ball, and little separation from DBs. I can watch college games all over the country and find receivers that I covet and wonder why not at Bama. Similar to our kicking situation. Take out yardage from RBs and TEs, and production for the WRs is very pedestrian outside of the two previously mentioned.
Eh, to each his own opinion.

Yes I was talking about the overall 2013 class for WR is one of the deepest in a long time for top shelf WRs and most og them seem to be in the south.

Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood has an Alabama offer

If u expext every wrwe recruit to be julio you'll be let down constantly. I think if u paid attention to anything other than their stat lines you'd be more impressed. Not to mention how hard it is for wr's to shine constanly when we run 40 times or more a game

I'll bicker a bit.
This year the dropped balls/short-arms and bad route spacing have almost disappeared from the unit. Even Julio would drop a couple of easy catches regularly. The WR coaching change this year has paid off big and will get even better. The talent is there and their ability to learn whatever they are taught is evident.:cool2:

I agree - The receivers are still not getting much separation against good CBs, but their catching technique is much improved, as is their route running. White is the kind of receiver that will go up and take the ball away from a defender - haven't had one of those in a while (JJ included). I think that we will see a lot more from our WR corps next year.

To get the thread back on topic - Fulwood has on thing that you can't coach - height. 6'4"

Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood

Just committed to Florida on a visit for their spring game. I dont know how much of a shot we actually had for him.

When Alabama didn't make a significant jump in his "favorites" after a visit in March, I was starting to lose hope. Tall, physical WRs with this type of ability don't grow on trees. There have only been a handful in the Southeast since 2008. I hate to lose out on him, but there are still some talented WRs that can join Raheem Falkins in the 2013 class.

Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood

Well that's disappointing b/c I thought UA had a good shot at getting a commitment from Fulwood. Still some great options available out there and WR isn't a huge need for UA but hate to lose talent like Robinson and Fulwood to rival SEC schools

Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood

Fulwood was kind of strange. Things looked really good for us a couple of months back, and then we just heard nothing out of him. Given the silence, I can't say this one is much of a surprise, I suppose.

Big pick-up for Florida, though, and would have loved to have gotten him. Fulwood is the kind of big receiver the Gators have been missing. He could play as a freshman in Gainesville.

Re: 2013 WR Ahmad Fulwood

So have we given up on Fulwood? :cool2:
I'd be surprised if UA has given up on Fulwood by any means. Tall, physical WRs aren't all over the place and UA is alway competing for the best talent. Whether UA has much of a chance is another factor though
