Greg Maddux faced 20,421 batters
133 of them saw a 3-0 count
Dude threw strikes on the edge of the zone, slow enough to hit but still impossible to hit because he outsmarted batters. He was the guy who could hit the keyhole in a doorknob. And he studied hitters, knew their tendencies and used their tendencies against them. He was the best pitcher that I have ever seen. A true master pitching through the batter's era.

There's no telling how many of those were on purpose too just to play head games with a batter before he got him to ground out weakly on the next pitch.

You could usually tell when he was messing with somebody because he would smirk when he got them out.

My Favorite Pitcher ever.

One of Maddux’s more impressive feats is that in ‘93-95 he led the NL in ERA each season as well as IP, CG’s (28 Total), and CG SHO’s (7 Total) !!!

I’m not sure that today’s SP’s could amass that many CG’s or CG SHO’s in their Entire Career much less 3 seasons.

Greg was a MACHINE.
