Let’s do this. We will work it like football. But since the traffic is much different vs football, one thread for the season.

Want to complain about the play and team and coaching, this is for you

Coach and Player bashing rules still apply.

Teams with a physical presence on the inside are going to cause us all kind of trouble. Sherrill is the only real option we have at 5. Williamson has been a major bust and Bol struggles inside as well. We have to be able to rebound the ball!

Yep, this team is inept defensively and rebounding wise. A lot of that is that we are physically frail and weak. But ask any basketball person, and they'll tell you those two things are also highly related to hustle. You watch our guys when a shot goes up and there is very little hustle to get into position or to block anyone out. Maybe they are being asked to do too much running a high tempo system being so physically thin and frail, so they don't have enough energy to do those things at a high level? There does seem to be a mismatch sometime in player type, like Bol Bowen, and what they're being asked to do.

Coach obviously believes that they're not being asked to do too much. Love the messaging that he's sending just prior to tourney time.

Of course, CNO is not going to say they're being asked to do too much. I'm just saying he may need to re-evaluate the types of players he is recruiting from high school and the portal for the roles he envisions in his system. At least Allen and Jemison are thicker guys who can seem to hold up a little better playing at such a high tempo but still have some juice left to play defense and rebound, especially Allen. Wrightsell is another one. Players like Bol Bowen, Philon, and Holloway struggle with that it seems because they're just physically a little more thinner and frail. Of course Philon and Holloway are great offensive players. I'm talking about holding up as part of their overall game.

Understand where you're coming from. As long as we have depth, we should be able to afford to play more physically. From what I've seen the past few weeks it's not about the physicality as much as it the effort. All too often our guards especially just don't try to get in front of offensive guys crashing. They may have done better against Auburn Saturday... I've yet to be able to watch the game.

Reactions: Bama Shoals
Seems like a lot of our rebounding is on the bench, either injured or not able to play at this level (yet).

My complaint: An eastern time zone game, midwest region, being the last game on Sunday night. Why would they schedule a do-or-die NCAAT game for the middle of the night?

My other complaint: Teams have to be well into the first half before they'll learn if the game will have rules or just be another free-for-all with no apparent rules. With our depth situation that's some important information.

Oats style is not built for that. His guys can’t handle the beatings that big ten teams are allowed to visit upon their competition

It’s not just Big 10 teams. The last three years in the tournament it’s been a Big East, ACC, and Big 10 team. It’s elite teams that no team CNO has put together has been capable of competing with for an entire game. They are all big, tough, and physical. Same with Arizona this year. Remember we were beating them at the half too, but they also totally manhandled us in the 2nd half.
