Was he? everything I heard and saw was that he was not last year or this past spring. Good news if in reality he was doing better than what’s heard.
this is what I heard as well. He wasn't really anywhere near pushing Ty, and was much more getting pushed by those behind him, especially KR down the stretch this spring. Development can happen at different stages for different guys though, and with him really only being the age of true sophomore, he's still got some time I'd think, but with 2 years in college systems hopefully he's got a really good handle on all the mental aspects and concepts so is just needing to continue to develop down the physical path.

there is some apprehension from Bama fans that money will play a big part in his decision process which is not a surprised with the advent of NIL. Oregon is definitely not going away as Tank mentioned he likes Lanning and their schemes. I think in the end as stated by many sources, the home school factor and distance will keep him home.
Agreed SJC and from the same interview he said this and it is only going to get worse until he commits and signs in December.

It’s getting a little stressful now,” Jones told reporters at Mobile County High School Media Day last Monday. “A lot of people are coming out of nowhere and texting me. Commitment coming up soon, so I’ve just been day-by-day, grinding, keeping my head down, staying humble.”

6 foot 7, 300 pounds ran a 4.7 40yd dash??
I saw this about Bear. I did not know he re-classified and the measurables are unique.

For starters, the Peach State native is supposed to be in the 2027 class. Also? He is a 6-foot-7, 296 pounder with 34 inch arms, a 81.5 inch wingspan, 10.25 inch hands, a 9-foot, 2-inch broad jump and recent 4.77 40-yard dash time. Those are rare numbers for any football player, let alone a reclassified high school prospect.

Also heard that they didn't believe the 4.7 so they made him run it again and he ran a 4.8! So he's legit and very athletic, believe we got a steal

The latest update on Tank Jones from 247 is that he could announce tomorrow or by end of the week.
Which is not a surprised as he has indicated in his recent HS media days.
Outside of Texas AM and Oregon, all sources are picking Bama as his choice.
He is committing tomorrow on the Pat McAfee show and though nobody really knows, it seems it could be either Bama or Oregon. I am sure regardless of who it is tomorrow, the top teams he has mentioned will still recruit him until signing day. Maybe he wants to stay home and play for Bama since he has been a Bama fan all his life. Or, he could just want to do something different and leave the state. I would imagine that although the NIL money is comparable, Oregon will probably offer more than others at the last minute. I guess I'd rather it be Oregon than Texas AM, but hope he picks Bama!

So now according to Tom Loy and 247 staff, they are leaning Oregon to land Tank tomorrow.
Fluid is an understatement in recruiting so anything and everything can happen.
NIL from Oregon as many have stated is a major factor for him and playing for Lanning as well.
We will see how much of a life long Bama fan he really is and playing at home means to him.

It would’ve been good to grab a local five star, but Alabama is capable of grabbing someone else’s five star.

Good luck to the young man, whichever way he goes.
like many have stated on his recruitment, it's not over until December. But we are good either way at that position. Tank was more of a luxury than a need. losing a 5 star is never a good look, but in today's CFB, it's becoming more common due to NIL and the portal. Bama has recruited very well and the guys on the roster will be more than ready to go.
the 2026 class is fantastic and I look forward to all those young men in crimson in the near future.

Well the state had three 5*'s (really four 5*'s if you count Xavier Griffin who was playing in Huntsville last year) and we have two and may get the third today. Good news is the Barn (or any other SEC team) will not be getting him if he decides to go with Oregon.

This will be the 2nd year in a row if Tank goes to Oregon they have come in and taken the #1 player from the state (CB Offord from Bham last year). Damn that Nike money!!! Hopefully with the new regulations they are not going to be able to buy players as easily as they are now.

Where there's a will(with a BIG bank account) there is a way; when it comes to football recruiting.

very good point on auburn and the rest of the SEC. Offord if I recalled wasn't a true Alabama native so he had no loyalty to the state schools.
one poster on the group thread over on 247 made a really good point when they said " anytime Oregon and Texas am are in a bidding war for a Bama kid, you know its about money and these two schools have the largest fund".

I will say this.... Tank has done a very good job of keeping things tight lipped and not letting his decision leak. ANY information out there is a complete guess right now because no one knows what he is going to do today. I do believe based on info from this morning that A&M is out and it is between Oregon and Bama. People are guessing Oregon because he hasn't told Bama "yes", but he also hasn't told them "no" either. It is the exact same on the Oregon side. My gut is telling me Bama based on intel and what Tank has said would be the deciding factor with relationships. He has said his best relationship is with C Rob and he is like another father figure to him. This is the first time that I'm posting a "guess" on here and my guess is Bama because NO ONE knows except his inner circle. We shall see.

All about the Benjamin s
indeed and his " relationship" with Lanning who he's known the last 6 months or so while he's known Womack for the last 4 years. let's not forget his father like relationship with CRob which really didn't matter in the end. we shall see how much it will dawn on him when the long distant away from your family and friends become a reality when December comes around or is the $$$ too good to pass up.

Like I have said I'm old school, but this day and time it's all about money, his family are Bama fans and he grew up a Bama fan, it is what it is, but if I always wanted to play at Bama and I'm a big fan then that's where I'm going, but I'm old school
So if you were offered an extra $500,000 ; you still go to Bama? How about an extra $1,000,000?
