2026 Recruiting

Are the "stars" of the portal players the same ones they had coming out of HS or have they been re-evaluated and given stars based on their play in college?

Not the same, the stars for transfer portal players takes into account the number of years of eligibility remaining as well as how well they performed on the field. 247 usually shows HS rating as well as Transfer rating. Some Bama 5* transfers out have left with 3 and 4* ratings because of years of eligibility remaining. Ty Haywood transferred in with a 4* rating because he has limited playing time and 3 years of eligibility left. Soon, there will be no eligibility Icriteria because every player will be eligible until SS benefits kicks in. This last sentence is included because I wanted to be eligible to say eligibility again in a sentence.

This makes me feel better about Xavier who is 5* quality. Here is some highlights of Amari. Little guy but has some speed and quicks.

The Last explosive NJ player not highly rated that we signed is the real deal!

nice pick up from the JUCO ranks. added depth to the WR corps.
very productive numbers, 67 catches and 1300 yard
runs a 10.8 in the 100 meters!
Interesting guy to be flying so under the radar. I saw he ran a 4.38 40, did some kick returning in high school (had a TD), track guy.

I felt Alabama needed a bit of depth to back up the main scholarship guys, and bridge the gap to the walkons and it seems like he can do this. Basically just cost a scholarship and Alabama has nearly 20 available at the moment.

This feels like a sneaky good to possibly great pickup of a JC guy who could make a difference!!!

Dare I even compare some of these "under the radar" additions to resemble the "Indiana model" of finding guys that might have been overlooked to form a team of players who will appreciate the Crimson jersey and where it might get them.

Call it a "win-win" situation for both the players and the team/school!

If these additions go well next season, we might return to some of these posts that hardly receive more than just a few likes and say that this addition became one of the difference makers!
