I actually have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this guitar. It plays like a dream, but is let down by these Jackson ceramic pickups. But they’re not easily replaced because of the active mid-boost circuits that rely on a 9 volt battery. Part of me wants to keep it original, even though the pickups suck, but I also want it to sound better. It’s literally the best built and best playing guitar I have, but also the worst sounding.

There's a reason this one kinda hits home for me.

Bobby and his good friend, David Hill, grew up near the same street my mother did in Lanett. Bobby's brother, Phil, used to play football in the street with my uncle (mom's brother). Bobby and Dave both played for the Lanett High Panthers. Bobby was the QB on the 1956-57 teams that went 18-0-1, and David was an offensive tackle. Bobby was first team All-State as a senior. (David Hill - literally - followed Bobby to Auburn and then to play for Hank Stram, culminating in a ring in Super Bowl IV. If you've seen the John Facenda narrated film of Super Bowl IV, Hill is mentioned as "chopping down" Carl Eller when the Chiefs run the 51 Go Reverse. Hill died in 2022).

Bobby went to Auburn and was drafted in the 11th round by the Dallas Texans. As a rookie, Bobby set a rookie record for INTs in a 14-game season with eight, and he played in the famous 1962 overtime AFL Championship between the Texans and Houston Oilers. He once snagged four picks off Hall of Famer George Blanda, and he had the privilege of playing the first-ever Super Bowl against Lombardi's Packers.

Left unprotected in the expansion draft, Hunt was picked up and played two seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals.
