2026 - They died this year

Some sports team owners are distant from their organization, and often do not care about the day-to-day operations. Some owners simply are uninterested in how a team performs as long as it generates revenue. Then there's Ted Turner, who, during a long losing streak, decided to name himself the manager of the Atlanta Braves.

Mert Lawwill, star of On Any Sunday, 1969 Motorcycle Grand National Champion, and Pro Cruiser designer, has passed away at the age of 85 in his home state of Idaho, surrounded by family and friends.

A 1969 Grand National Champion and inductee into both the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, Lawwill built a legacy that bridged motorcycles and bicycles—becoming a motorcycle icon and a pioneering force in modern bicycle suspension design—while inspiring a devoted following that spans generations.

Sorry folks been busy this last week with the new job I have to see a doctor on Monday about back pain. But I couldn’t let this one pass by.

This has been a terrible week for fans of the Atlanta Braves. I’m mostly all right, my son moved out last weekend and I had to help him, and I also had to move stuff out of storage. That turned my back that already has osteoarthritis into something quite painful. Not to make this about me, but that’s why I haven’t been around the last week.

I’ll be back in a couple of days.

But Bobby, passing is one of those that makes me cry, probably because of the obvious point of mortality.
