CFB says "hold my beer"...The NCAA is now letting former pros play basketball, so it's about as absurd as you can get.
Road grader?
The new TE was deemed to be a road grader...
This! (FIFY) Thank you!We need a new OL coach ... definitely a new S&C coach as well.
As I understand it though, that is a violation of the cap rules, just hard to detect.I remember Dennis Rodman saying he would take property in lieu of cash to get around salary caps, so there are loopholes in everything...![]()
No disrespect GT. You are among the most knowledgeable posters here regarding insight to the mechanics of football. I really enjoy your insight!Hard to grade the road when the DL can reach you first...
here are the starting OL over the last several years who were under 6'4".
Chris Owens - 6'3"
Darrian Dalcourt 6'3" (listed, but not really)
Emil Ekiyor 6'3" (listed, but not really)
Parker Brailsford
Draft feedback on them:
- Lacks ideal size and length along interior.
- Could struggle against bigger two-gapping opponents.
- Gets long-levered by rushers when he lunges with his punch.
- Lack of length puts him at the end of two-gappers’ punches.
- Gets yanked off-balance by punch and pull moves.
Are there any rules? Who can enforce them?As I understand it though, that is a violation of the cap rules, just hard to detect.
Rodman actually lived with Cuban for a little and the league found that to be in violation of the cap rules. So, people will try to get around the rules, the question is just if there are any entities to enforce them?
Toward that end, I think a breakaway might be the only way to bring some semblance of order to things, the NCAA is corrupt and inept, but a Big 10/SEC/Third super-conference (Big 12 ACC merger) could result in a new ruling body.
This can't be so. When has a Texas-based school ever flouted CFB recruiting rules?
Doesn't mean you're wrong... But what do I know, I'm just an average fan.

That's NFL feedback. We are in CFB, though almost the same but not the point I am making.
A player may be a bit shorter, but he could still be quicker and obviously would have a lower center of gravity resulting in leverage.
I an not as knowledgeable about line technique and certainly don't know what type of OL fits CKD's offensive system, so I will just trust that he is targeting the type that best fits...![]()
Too soon ...I'll take "Posts that didn't age well even before they were posted" for 38-3 please Alex
This probably means Horton might go pro?update: Rico Scott back with Alabama. that's good news. he has potential, just very inexperienced. he did make some nice catches and with more reps can be a weapon.
not too mentioned, unless we were getting some notable WRs, the roster was getting thin with pass catchers.
I noticed on Strayhorn’s recruiting profile coming out of IMG most were projecting him as center at the next level. Given Brailsford has declared for the draft, and Montgomery in the portal, could it be they are looking Strayhorn as depth at the center position? I think there is at least one other center in the portal we are supposedly interested in as well.True that it's NFL feedback, but the SEC is full of NFL level DL we have to face. I'm also all for quicker players. That said, length really does matter and can be a major limiting factor on an OL's ability to engage the guy they are blocking.
I'm just not confident CKD really knows what to target. His OL transfers in were GVDM, Dewberry and Anugwan (sp). All heavier than what we've heard his system calls for. He also brought proctor back and he's the antithesis of agile and mobile. GVDM was reasonably agile. Dewberry not so much. Neither moved nearly as well as Roberts who rarely played.
I think he's stuck between what he knew, pre-Alabama, and what he's now lived over 2 years (and his last game at UW) knowing that his past experience might not be a winning path going forward.

I know I'm not going to be critical of any acquisition or departure until I see the full picture.I noticed on Strayhorn’s recruiting profile coming out of IMG most were projecting him as center at the next level. There's so many moving parts going on here, that we don't know what's going on behind the scenes to free up money, how many slots are available, what's a depth piece and who they are projecting as a starter, etc...
So while I'm very worried about staff and I'm also worried about using the portal well, we just won't know what's going on until the dust settles. This team has obvious issues, so this isn't about trying to keep it all together, it's more about freeing resources to do what you need to do and who fits where is as of yet an unknown.
That really sucks. Maybe he'll jump back out eventually, who knows these days. Man I hate the state of college football right now.Qua Russaw has jumped in the pool
