I was kind of “taken aback” by Cole’s statement. If Clark Lea did say that to him in some context, it speaks volumes to where we are probably heading. It was either the back end of the 7 am hour or the first half of the 8 am hour.

Its a different era of football. Vandy wont go back to being that bad again with Lea there. The guy knows how to win there.

I don't believe the reports I heard were correct, as another poster pointed out it has been reported he is headed for OU. Heard a lot of smoke around a surprise and then saw a Bama source reporting his name on the socials. Oh well.

Auburn in rebuild mode with a new staff, ranked #9 in the portal so far.

LSU in limbo while half their staff is at Ole Miss, but ranked #4 in the portal by 247sports so far.

Oklahoma is doing well on their transfers INTO their program, ranked #6 so far.

I'll maintain that programs will need to be in the top 10 to 15 in recruiting as well as top 10 to 15 in the portal to maintain competitive.

I'll also add that you're going to need a top notch developmental staff and game staff.....no longer just recruiting guys that can coach some.....coaches that can recruit and develop. And a top notch GM to organize the chaos some.

On the other hand, look at Shaquille O'Neil: Entered the NBA in '92 ... BA in 2000 ... Masters in 2005 ... PhD in 2012. When he left LSU for the NBA he promised his mom he'd graduate from college.

He's managed his money very very well. He's very personally involved in his investments.
