Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

Anywhere to track the other SEC programs and whats going on with them in the transfer portal?...i read UGA only has 1 add from the portal...not sure how many entered it from their roster though...or does it just seem we are in chaos compared to others?

But they've only had like 6-8 leave, at least the last time I checked.

Per Gemini...

As of January 2026, the Georgia Bulldogs have seen significant activity in the transfer portal following the conclusion of their 2025 season.

Currently, Georgia has lost at least 10–12 players to the portal in this immediate post-season window. This follows a high-attrition 2024 cycle where they lost 22 players to the portal.

Recent Notable Departures (2025–2026 Window)

Following Georgia's loss in the Sugar Bowl, several contributors and high-upside players announced their intent to transfer:

  • Joenel Aguero (S): A significant loss in the secondary; he was a rising senior with 36 games of experience.
Ondre Evans (CB): A former high-profile recruit who has already committed to NC State.

  • Bo Hughley (OL): A massive tackle prospect from the 2023 class.

  • Daniel Harris (DB): One of the first to announce his departure in late 2025.

  • Jaden Harris (S): Committed to Kansas shortly after entering.

  • Roderick Robinson (RB): A powerful back who dealt with injuries during his time in Athens.
  • Jordan Thomas (DL): Committed to South Carolina.

  • Kris Jones (LB): Another young defensive piece seeking more playing time.

We are all star struck by the stars in recruiting and that is a misleading data point IMHO. Especially today, the transfer portal is full of guys every year (tweeners, late bloomers, overlooked guys, incredibly hard workers, etc.) that may have been evaluated in high school at one time (either correctly or ad hoc) but that evaluation is way outdated. So you are right, it puts a premium on programs to make their own evals of players currently playing college football at all 100+ schools throughout the year. Need a staff alone to do that and that effort is a worthwhile endeavor for a school lacking billionaire contributors like Alabama.
Were any of IU’s players superstars? I don’t just mean out of high school but also at the time they entered the portal. Maybe some of them were, but my understanding was that most (if not all) were not.

The teams with the most money are going to snatch up the marquee talent. So for anyone else to have a chance requires great ability to identify talent among those who might otherwise fly under the radar. It also requires some measure of skill at coaching them up and motivating them. That’s where Cignetti’s superpower lies.

And finding the physically and mentally mature guys that are now 22 or 23 or 24 years old.

This is where Cignetti is pulling away from the pack. It isn't the formula that's so much better, it's his evaluation. He's finding the gems in the portal, that's the key here. If you find the right recruits you can build a really strong foundation and if you can find the right portal players you can build off of that foundation. Cignetti was able to use JMU players for his foundation in this case. He brought 13 players! So those were his guys, his "recruits". DeBoer brought 4, and while those have all been impactful that's a heck of a lot less.
Also, since Cignetti is pulling 3-4 star players instead of 5-star, they're less likely to jump back into the portal--allowing him to get them properly trained in fundamentals--a problem we've had for a few years.

I will give credit where it is due but really tired of hearing about spicoli and his IOU tires. He is a turd just like the vandy coach and the long list of other flashes in the pan. Just got to learn what works and adapt.

I’m not invested in him either. Wouldn’t bother me if he gets blown out of the stadium tomorrow night. Would love to see that smirk wiped off his impudent face. Kind of like we did to Venables.
