This concerns me that fans want Alabama football staff to do what they want them to do..... And not always trusting the coaching staff. They see and hear things we normally don't. Trust the process and let it play out. I'm not worried at all.
I guess part of the issue is I don't really trust some pieces of the current staff, I've said it before but we're trusting people to fix issues that they aren't really qualified to fix, so it's a bit tricky.

Couple that with the fact that Alabama did not do a good job in the portal last year, where they clearly had needs and clearly should have addressed some things, and it's a bit disconcerting.

Heck last year they got worse in key areas (running game, run blocking) and now we're seeing some of those guys leave (Horton, Calhoun, etc...).

So, to recap of the 4, 4 stars they added via the portal last year, 3 of them are already gone again. I'm looking over the list and it's not like it's a bunch of impact players. So what are they doing this year that's going to be so much better than what they did last year? That's the concern...

That has been and will be the case until the end of time. It is easy to scream from the cheap seats but not really anything coaches will do about it. If they do then they will eventually be out here screaming with the crowd. Who said that? Gene Stallings?

“Trust the process” would be absolutely understandable were this Saban…I’m just curious what gives you so much confidence we are going to be “just fine”…in all areas under DeBoer in regards to what we’ve gotten so far - results wise?

Legit question, because I want to increase my outlook on the future but just cannot find enough evidence under this staff to do so.

My thoughts aren't necessarily about the signings. My skepticism comes more from how the team has looked in their losses, and around half their wins tbh, which seems to be more a part of development and motivation as opposed to talent. The staff has certainly earned to right get their pieces in place. Getting to the quarterfinals is definitely not something to sneeze at, but even in some wins the margin of error was razor thin because of fundamentals. I just hope to see improvement in some coaching aspects and that a fire has truly been lit under the staff.

Frankly, I am not worried about a thing. DeBoer gets the message. Nick told him on national television that he failed to meet our expectation. If the guy is cut from the mold we need him to be then he will have enough motivation to get it done. If he don't, well, we will find someone who can.

So let me get this straight. "Indiana" has the right approach and upstart, CNS-like coach, who is an excellent recruiting evaluator, and keen eye for detail, is a team of 2 and 3 stars who don't play for money but for each other and a process-driven coach???

This means they've figured out the formula for being good in this NIL/portal era??? They are the new-blood that conquered the blue-blood (the school the blue-blood fans speak longingly and lustfully about how they've figured it out and hired the right coach) and now they are the picture of success and are here to stay???

But now, Mark Cuban, alumnus, billionaire, and smart investor, is supposedly about to dump millions (we assume) on his alma mater. So this team made up of 2-3 stars are about to be able to pay the 4-5 stars???

So, they'll abandon the plan that worked to do what the blue-bloods, who have failed, are doing??? They will start paying players, but those paid players won't be greedy, selfish playes at a certain southern, blue blood school who is trying to figure out NIL too??? But, we wish we had their coach and wish we would follow their brilliant plan???

GOT IT!

Valid point.

I have no reason to trust this staff to do what will make them not get boat raced again.....8 losses.....6 times they were embarrassing.

We didn't evaluate well in the portal last year:

We got 12 guys in last year......Horton, Hil-Green, and Doud were starters or in the starting rotation. Dewberry played some, Collins played some. Everyone else I have no clue who they are, don't even remember seeing their names.

Horton - transferring again
Doud - gone
Hill Green - gone
Dewberry - gone

Cignetti will still be doing the evaluating, though, whether it's two-star or five-star.

Who the heck are these people? So we need Horton, a wideout, helping in pass protection? He would have needed to be 4-5 yards deep in the backfield to run block because we refuse to run wide. Hilarious
Alabama is just in a weird place right now because in theory I get it. You have some flaws with the current roster, you do need to improve, but you need to actually address the issues via addition.

So last portal for instance they let an under-performing offensive lineman go. Fine, don't overpay, do your thing. But who did they replace him with? Did the offensive line get better or worse?

They let a key running back go, someone they didn't use much and he supposedly wasn't a good fit. Fine what ever, who did you bring in that was better than him? How did you upgrade the running game? Oh wait, you just got worse there as well?

That's the issue we're looking at here. I don't at all mind letting guys go, but at some point I just start to wonder if they're actually going to replace them with upgrades or not. If they were faster moving, like even Indiana is despite still playing in the playoffs, I'd feel better. They seem to be dragging their feet and it makes me nervous. I hope there's a master plan unfolding though but if not some of these guys might be looking for work come this time next year.

Yes, but CC will start having to deal with the 5 star, who is getting paid and getting tempted to go to another team that can pay him more. This is the very thing that drove the GOAT out!

But, yeah, CC is the new gold standard. Obviously.

How silly are those who are lusting after CC gonna look if they don't even win the title that a lot of posters here have already awarded them???

And let's say recruiting the 2-3 star, team-oriented player really is the secret sauce? Don't you think everybody else will start doing it too???

CC is doing the only thing he could before this "newfound" success. He recruited lower-star guys to play for him and it seems to be working...for now.

This really isn't rocket science. He's just doing what CNS did/said but he couldn't recruit the4-5 start, but had to recruit the lower-starred player.

It's comical to me how he's so brilliant and now he's the gold-standard.
