Wow. That is troubling. Many times that is associated with things like Marfan’s Syndrome and EDS.He has very fragile connective tissue...
Don’t underestimate theIt was denied. Absolutely laughable reason to request another year, but hey I don’t blame him.
Saban was the best at evaluating talent and then the rankings would follow suit with the so-called Bama bump.Relying on recruiting rankings is laziness
Coleman is in townDo we have any portal signings we are close on? I know we have a few in town. Anyone got any inside info for us? This has been no fun. I wasn't ready for Horton to go. That was upsetting to me...
Then Saban shouldn’t have abruptly retired without giving the school and athletic department any real warning. They should have had a plan in place and had someone ready to take over 2025 not having to scramble the end of the coaching cycle going into 2024. If they would have went to Cignetti the year Indiana went out and signed him and said hey Nick is going to retire after the 2024 season we want to bring you on the staff for 1 year and then you take over for 2025 I would bet he agrees to that instead of going to Indiana. If you guys watched the pre-game last night they did a piece on Saban's role with training all 4 guys still in the playoff. After that was over Pat McAfee said, "why didn't Bama hire someone from the tree?" Saban ignored that statement but I thought, yes, why not.
Right, do you really want a coach who has to sift through 0-3 star talent? Why is he good at that because the guy has a very unflattering personality and higher rated players dont want to play for him.Yes, but CC will start having to deal with the 5 star, who is getting paid and getting tempted to go to another team that can pay him more. This is the very thing that drove the GOAT out!
But, yeah, CC is the new gold standard. Obviously.
How silly are those who are lusting after CC gonna look if they don't even win the title that a lot of posters here have already awarded them???
And let's say recruiting the 2-3 star, team-oriented player really is the secret sauce? Don't you think everybody else will start doing it too???
CC is doing the only thing he could before this "newfound" success. He recruited lower-star guys to play for him and it seems to be working...for now.
This really isn't rocket science. He's just doing what CNS did/said but he couldn't recruit the4-5 start, but had to recruit the lower-starred player.
It's comical to me how he's so brilliant and now he's the gold-standard.
Cignetti built a very good program but he has also had some luck. I believe they had 4 starters on offensive line make every start and only used 6 guys all year. They were selected to be 5th in the Big Ten preseason poll this season and the biggest two questions they listed was a bump up in schedule and they lacked depth at many positions especially on the lines. Well if none of them get hurt you don’t need as much depth.![]()
From 'duck feet' to 'production over potential:' Curt Cignetti's secret to building Indiana
The Hoosiers' roster is filled with different kinds of players, but all had to meet Cignetti's standards.www.espn.com
Interesting article about Cignetti's approach. I know people are tired of hearing about him, but he has developed the most successful blueprint in terms of how to use the portal effectively without spending obscene amounts of money.
This quote I think is pretty important:
"I watched every guy," he said. "I kind of did the board. ... I'm in there watching all the guys, ranking them. Repetition is the mother of learning, and you get better and better at it."
Cignetti became IUP's coach and general manager. He didn't have much choice in Division II, where resources, including scholarships, are scarce.
"It's like they do at Division I with NIL money -- we do it with scholarship money," Tortorella said. "He wasn't used to that coming from Alabama, but he was on top of it right away."
Cignetti learned how to spread funds around. There were priority positions, of course -- quarterback, defensive end, cornerback, wide receiver -- but having too much in one bucket left the team vulnerable elsewhere.
He always took care of the offensive and defensive lines."
I think a lot of people are caught up in dollar amounts, or even ages of players. To me it's all about how hard they work in their evaluations. The more work you do, the more studious you are, there's a lot you can do. It isn't all about making players rich, you can go find someone who is going to be happy to play for 100K NIL a year and he could be the difference in winning a title or not.
Relying on recruiting rankings is laziness I think a lot of coaches seem to fall into, try to get a "good class" and don't really do the hard work it takes to dig up talent.
Here's is what i think our staff maybe overlooking that I may give Indiana credit for...Somehow I think CKD, Morgan and whomever else works on the portal stuff is also learning how to navigate in this very fluid dynamic. And they're learning better and faster than I.
You know that he’s regarded as one of the best in the business, right? A lot of folks are upset with the program right now, but we should know why and who we’re upset with and not just blanket label everyone as terrible…jmho…But we have a GMTrained by the Michigan staff led Jim Harbaugh. Makes me feel sure said no one ever.
He’ll probably return a put 75 yards for a TD against us when we play them in November.Cole Adams is headed to Vandy
Probably a receiving TD as well. He’ll probably return a put 75 yards for a TD against us when we play them in November.
And our Special Teams coach will look at DeBoer and say “wow…didn’t see that coming…”
I like this. Please dial into HQ and make it happen! Here's is what i think our staff maybe overlooking that I may give Indiana credit for...
[To] make these pieces work you need an offensive system that utilizes them at optimum performance. To me means more play action pro set formations and more focus running the ball.
Imo, if we want to be more effective in the portal we need to change our offensive philosophy. There simply not enough of the pieces we need obtainable. Indeed, the most effective team performance wise might also be the effective cost wise.
They are going to sue.I thought that was an Appeal that was denied...![]()
Respect / agree with your decision wholeheartedly. I would note though, that the billionaire types can throw a bit of money at NIL and still fund these noble charitable causes you highlighted .Exactly. My wife and I have done well, and we are in a position to be very charitable. As we plan for our retirement years, the main focus is how much of our money to give away and to whom to give it. Before we settled on our current plan, my wife asked me if I wanted to participate in the NIL circus. Now, we aren't going to donate millions a year, but we soon could do six-figures a year. My response was, "Absolutely not. Not now. Not ever."
Why? Besides it being a stupid "investment," I'd be giving money to kids who are just going to spend it on cars, jewelry, or some other dumb crap. I find that offensive. And I would be enabling the kid to be a financial retard. I won't contribute to that.
People can do what they want with their money, but I'd rather help poor kids attend college, get poor single moms a chance to have jobs and decent housing, provide food and supplies for poor elderly and disabled people, fund medical missions, etc. Truly helping people have a better life is far more fulfilling than flushing money on a sports team. With the money that these billionaires are throwing around, they could instead be yearly helping thousands of people break the cycle of poverty and have a better life.
