Apparently it was back in 1993...We know that would have been binding, right?
The person that made that post is reliable. If he posts it, you can bet he’s right on the money.I still can’t get over that if it’s true. Isn’t that part of his job? It’s like his excuse for not doing his job is that he didn’t do his job.
He’s saying they missed on signing some guys they wanted, or keeping some guys that left anyway.I still can’t get over that if it’s true. Isn’t that part of his job? It’s like his excuse for not doing his job is that he didn’t do his job.
I think the Covid shutdown affected CNS due to the way he leaned so heavily on bringing guys into summer camp. They were also shutdown. It gave Coach and his staff 4 days to do evaluations on work ethic, coachability, toughness, talent and what kind of person-player they are. The years after 2020 were a crapshoot. They had teams that were loaded with the best talent in the country and stayed 3-4 years to get developed
Great opinion as the state of Alabama generally produces low bust rate kids and is high talent per capita.I’ll also say this, I think we may need to try to do a better job on recruiting players within the footprint of the University. I believe that we could be competitive recruiting within 350 miles of the University. You tend to find kids that are much more loyal. That’s just my 2 cent opinion.
The line was trash and so was the running game and you said nothing because Saban was the coach.
That is the same everywhere. Federal law basically says registration is just basically like making a reservation. You have a spot at the University and class which is step 1. Then step 2 is the 5% rule which is about 2 classes. It is not until after that 5% mark that a person is officially a student enrolled in class. From my understanding about how registration works at Bama, we can’t know if players are enrolled until they actually show up to class. Administration does this on purpose, I’m guessing, so media outlets/other teams can’t KNOW whether a player has actually enrolled.
Not sure how they are confirming that Smothers is enrolled or not.
You got any openings at your practice? I need some help…Naturally, people who strive to be optimistic and maintain a positive outlook are frustrated with people who are constantly negative…and people who hold a negative and pessimistic outlook get frustrated with positivity.
This forum is simply a microcosm of humanity…and a magnificent opportunity for a sociological case-study on human nature.
Carry on…I’m taking notes
I wonder if Indianapolis Jones watched them.I didn't know the Colts played last night.
I'll be honest with you. My biggest issue, right now, with CKD is his demeanor. He has no fire in his belly and acts like he has no clue as to what is going on. Especially during a game. I know we can't or shouldn't fire him right now. But things can't continue the way they are. If we take a step back next year he should be gone.
We didn’t get many guys in the portal and besides Horton and Dewberry none of the other guys were anything but positional depth. So of the guys we got that were expected to help we’re pretty good. We have no idea how much money they had last year to spend the same this year. Complaining they missed makes no sense to me when they might not have any money. I missed out on buying a Lamborghini the other day. I never could afford it but I didn’t get it so I guess I missed out on it. In NFL you at least know how much money each team has and how much they spent because every contract is announced and the salary cap is there(granted the team doesn’t have to spend all it but most are close).I wonder how soon they realized the players they picked up out of the portal were busts?
You could be right, but Alabama is not at the top of this mess anymore. Even if CNS was DeBoer’s age Alabama would not be at the top of this mess.
Alabama is going to strike out a lot because Alabama is in the position of having to take chances on guys, unless you want the repeat scenario of what’s happening with this running back? Get the guy, woo the guy, get a verbal non binding commitment, and then lose him to a school with bigger pockets. Same thing with the edge guy from Tennessee, maybe even Cam Coleman.
You got to give them a chance to get things done.
My question is: Did the player in question sign scholarship paperwork with Alabama? If so, that should have ended it or least that’s how it used to be. IDKThat is the same everywhere. Federal law basically says registration is just basically like making a reservation. You have a spot at the University and class which is step 1. Then step 2 is the 5% rule which is about 2 classes. It is not until after that 5% mark that a person is officially a student enrolled in class.
We don’t know that they aren’t.I am more than willing to give CKD a chance and have said as much.
On the flip side of that CKD and staff have got to give fans a reason to stay behind them.
They have to put in the effort and show that they are putting in the effort to straighten things out and make the necessary changes, be it staff, philosophy or whatever, to get the job done.
I know hindsight’s 20/20 and all, but it would probably have been better if he had let them walk and put guys on the field who wanted to play. If the won/loss record took a hit in year one due to a stand on principle, then so be it. It would have sent the right message and the team would have been stronger in year two. If he got fired for it, he could at least walk out with his head up. Instead he tried to placate everyone and will probably end up getting fired anyway.CNS AND CKD, made the decision two years in a row for JM.
Neither made sense to me, but what we don't know is what CKD had to do to hold off more of the team from leaving year 1. It seems the same LANK players that got their way in '23 (after the USF debacle) were the ones who stayed and played in '24.
At this point you're right, we don't.We don’t know that they aren’t.
Well they went after a great running back, offensive linemen, and most likely a new offensive line coach. At this point you're right, we don't.
My comment was not about the "right now" but what happens this off season and next season.
Were there adjustments made to philosophy if current philosophy not working or do we keep beating a dead horse hoping it will come back to life? Do we make staff adjustments (be it position coaches or whatever} that are needed?
It's not gonna be shown right this minute for sure but progress does need to be made/seen in the fall.
Does this mean that I think it's NC or or bust? Of course not. But I do expect better performance on both lines and certainly expect a vastly improved run game (yeah, he's gonna have to commit to that) and just more consistency across the board.
We're not gonna know results until we see the product on the foeld for sure but progress does need to be seen.
Same with DJ Lagway. Committed to Baylor but on his way to visit Ole Miss. Why even call it a commitment, step foot on campus, do all these photo ops and waste yours and other people’s time when you haven’t seen what everyone is offering and what should be the best situation for you? From what I’m reading, Smothers committed to Alabama but signed nothing.
