Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

The more I think about his situation, the more perplex I have become. why would he transfer when he has a great shot starting next season? he's been with Bama for 3 years already (redshirt sophomore). this is getting ridiculous.

Shopping himself to see what he can get?

Parent or agent told him to shop himself to see what he could get?

I am a bit surprised by the surprise. Ok, let's say JoeBob is on the team. He had a medium-level NIL deal going into the year. There are three possibilities (maybe more) at the end of the season.

JoeBob had a great year on the field. He goes in to the portal to renegotiate his moderate NIL deal or go somewhere and earn his market value.

JoeBob has a decent but not great year. He goes into the portal to protect himself from getting passed over when the team brings in a new person who has never put in the work in TTown. Team pays him to stay or he gets to go somewhere that sees him getting on the field.

JoeBob never got on the field. He thinks he can play but is not sure he is going to get his shot due to perceived or actual better talent on the team or the team's ability to pass him by by just portaling in a player. He goes in the portal to see what his options might be.

People saying that they all should just wait their turn--what if their turn never comes? You do everything right and then after 4 years of putting in the work and bleeding for the team, they portal in a person who can't spell Bama but is a step faster.

I am not saying I like it, but there is little downside to jumping in the portal and seeing what's up. I personally have never been shy about asking for a raise.

When you asked for the raises were you prepared to quit or be fired if told No? A lot of people go into to their boss asking even demanding a raise but not realizing the answer maybe more than just a No. That's what these kids are finding out.

Because they couldn’t care less about playing time. They will gladly go somewhere and be a “rotational” guy. They don’t care about “creating value for themselves in the NFL. Give me the check.

There is nothing about delayed gratification in any of this.

The TT bag is probably the largest out there. They have a billionaire oil tycoon funding their program. When TT, Texas and A&M are involved we are most likely not going to be able to compete. We are doing it in a better fiscal way than just about anybody and I am cool with it based on the rules as of now and in the future.
With oil sinking to under $50 a barrel, could be a former oil tycoon before long.

That’s a good point. How many Bama players have ever entered the portal and then not been on any team the next year?

YMBFM....
Years ago I was emailing Violent J and I made fun of the whole MCL thing that his fans do.

He responded with SYOBANYH (alright he actually got it wrong but took care to say what it meant afterwards) at the end of his message Surprisingly considering the source there's no expletives in there but still not something to repeat in polite company.

So umm, anyway Mincey said he was returning.
