Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

This is really big. The DL may be better than last year at its best. I assume the USC DL will be the bandit which will be an upgrade over Renaud who was JAG. Green may be better against the run than Smith and as good vs the pass because Smith never realized his promise here. This DL should be good vs the run.

If Alabama could get an SEC starting caliber RB and Arion Carter that would be almost dreamlike. Of course need some filler WRs, got enough starter types already. Hopefully Ryan will continues to his renaissance begun in the Indiana game. where he caught everything along with one unbelievable catch.
Renaud is still in the portal last I checked. We may be able to get him back if we wanted.

EDIT: Ole Miss

Some talk now that Arian Carter may withdraw from portal and return to Tennessee. UT had already moved on thinking he was heading to the NFL, investing NIL dollars in a replacement for him from the portal.

Seems like this is the situation with Arian Carter at Tennessee. He may want to come back but they already allocated his NIL dollars to others. They may work something out but some other team (us maybe) might benefit
Nah!

UThug will get "creative" with the accounting and make it work, which will be what he wanted all along...

As a side note, I saw someone claim that Nebraska was the second highest bidder for Terrance Green and that money would have made him the second highest paid player on the team.

So, not sure if Alabama had to pay a premium for a late addition or not, but certainly not a budget buy. This also illustrates something else, that there are layers here. Alabama is not by any means poor, they just don't have a billionaire booster. Their athletic department made 70 million more than Nebraska's the last year I see the numbers for though.

There are some schools that are flailing in this new era because the money really isn't there for them.

Slowpoke provided a screenshot earlier, but here's the updated rankings overall (transfer+portal, Alabama moved up one spot to fourth):
It looks kind of like you'd expect. The top 15 are all the sorts of programs you'd expect to be there. But then there's Clemson at 24, and the once mighty Nebraska at 71. Not all programs are well prepared to deal with the new realities.

I am just proud of this staff man. The are doing exactly what we need done in the portal while still recruiting prep players at a high level. Make some staff changes and move to a more toting the rock mentality and we have ourselves one heck of a program.

I blame this on my laptop.
