Graeme McDowell ?Had not thought about that. 20+ years ago a top amateur golfer from Ireland was playing @ UAB. He enrolled for the spring semester of his senior year...and never attended a single class. He wasn't going to graduate anyway.

Yes...I was not going to name him...he even told the story about himself to my son Jack when they were playing in the NCAA's.Graeme McDowell ?
Mendoza little brother going to Georgia Tech.
True, but DH should have also exercised more discretion in his words as wellSaban should not have called out DH in the media. This has upset several former players. He should have handled it with a phone call instead.
Yup. An eye for an eye...True, but DH should have also exercised more discretion in his words as well
Two wrongs don't make a right. And Saban should taken a more discrete approach.True, but DH should have also exercised more discretion in his words as well
Nick probably should have burnt a phone call. But on the other side of that coin, DH should have long toned it down about criticizing Alabama in the media He's gone way over board.Saban should not have called out DH in the media. He has to be enrolled in school in some way....

No, we don't. He may have but DH continued his little tirades. Who knows. It just looks bad on the university when a former player goes from objectively criticizing to bashing the program.I don't spend a lot of time following all these media slap-fights. Do we know that Saban never called him?
Saban literally said, "they are both great players" and then used a real world example of why stars and ratings made by non-coaches are not the best evaluator of future CFB/NFL success. If DH got his feelings hurt then that's more on him than Saban. Being able to dish out criticism but not take any is a red flag for character. Again, Saban wasn't necessarily criticizing DH but making a point. It would be similar to saying, "Dan Marino was a great QB but Tom Brady was better"...I can see how this could be considered calling out Harris, but I'm not sure that it really is. I think Saban was trying to make a point about player evaluations as it pertained to Indiana. He was giving the example of Jacobs and Harris, and I think it was a very relevant one. I actually think it was more of a compliment to Jacobs than an insult to Harris.

There was a time where you were a prominent player for a prominent team and eventually once the playing days were over you phased off into the "real world" and got a dose of reality and humility. In today's climate of podcasts, players are trying to keep that "shine" and limelight on them and moving along doesn't get the attention that being offended does. Nothing against podcasts but some of these former players, not just Alabama but athletes in general, need to understand that they just aren't relevant anymore and fans have moved on to the next thing just like they have for the entire history of sports. There was a time where Knute Rockne, John Wooden, Bruce Jenner, Butterbean, OJ Simpson, Detlef Schrempf, Charles Oakley, Bernie Kosar, etc were the best thing since sliced bread to their respective fan base and then they wasn't and that's ok...He spoke the truth…..DH needs to move along
Saban handled it right. DH, what he did was reckless and he deserved to be called out for that. BSaban should not have called out DH in the media. This has upset several former players. He should have handled it with a phone call instead.
