In the aluminum bat college game... 22 scoreless innings.

I'd almost rather see CMG go back to sac bunting all the time than this.

Serious note how can Phillips keep his job. No prior history of success and the offense is somehow REgressing.

At the very least I'd like to hear CMG address the issue and admit/shoulder some of the offensive woes on the coaching staff.

no reason some Sun Belt team should be doing this to us. I don't give a hoot what their "ranking" is

So far, we are getting pretty much what I expected this year. Outstanding pitching, good defense (for the most part) and no offense to speak of. The blame falls squarely on the coaching staff. I have taken a peek at the stats through the first 9 games and compared them to the past seasons. I looked at 5 returning players, Georgie Salem, Mikey White, Ben Moore, Austen Smith and Kyle Overstreet. Every one but Georgie has a lower batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage than last year. For Ben and Austen, who have been here for three and four years respectively, their stats have steadily decreased over their careers. These guys didn't forget how to hit over the off season. Something is wrong with how they are coached. These are not isolated cases. Nearly every player who has played here with Andy as the hitting coach has seen his production at the plate drop. I don't see anything changing that.

At some point, the lack of offense, along with the losses that will pile up as a result, will cost CMG his job. He can either accept that or he can make a change after the season. As far as the CMG addressing the anemic offense and accepting some of the blame, I don't expect that to happen. We will just hear more of the same crap. He will just continue talking about how we can't seem to get the key hit, blah, blah, blah. Well Coach ... it is your and your hitting coach's responsibility to figure out what the problem is and to fix it. If you can't, someone else should be given that opportunity.

Well, I tried to be a sunshine pumper early on, but it is getting old watching the lack of offensive production. Key hits are tough, regardless of who is hitting and getting them isn't usually in a teams favor. In the MLB "great" pinch hitters have pinch hit averages in the 350 range while good, still failing 65% of the time. The key hit isn't a coach issue in my book. How the other team is played is. What I mean is, the game is a chess match, showing bunt can be as effective as bunting, it makes the defense think you are potentially going to do it. Which can open up holes in the defense. Making defensive guys move up/back can lead to extra feet that allows a hit ball to become a hit...or an out. Also, working pitchers and still getting hits, eats into the bullpen over a weekend. Anyway, most of the previous we all know. Fact is, what we are doing atm, isn't being extremely successful.

Here's to hoping we get hot at the right time.

Wow that one typo between is and isn't was really misleading...

I rettract everything I said. It is patently obvious that we have found our offense and are primed and ready to go. After all, we did shell the number 3 starter from a Sun Belt school.
