Does anyone know of a good source for NCAA Football stats that gives you bulk, raw data?

Something with access via an API or web service would be great, but a manual file download would be fine.

I'm looking for an easy way to get data to plug into a statistical analysis / probability engine for rankings and, primarily, game predictions. I'd also like to get past years' statistics for pattern learning and tuning as well.

So, can anybody point me in the right direction?

Both of those sites have good stats but neither have, as far as I can tell, an interface or downloadable files with complete stats.

The NCAA.org site has some .csv files you can download, but they don't have the complete stats. They have (what seems to be) fairly complete stats for players, but not for the team. There are also several key stats missing, such as QB sacks. They show how many sacks a defensive player has, but not how many times a QB has been sacked. They are also only to date totals, and not broken out by game.

The cfbstats.com site has, I believe, all of the stats that I want, but not in an interface or downloadable form, just html. I'd rather not try to program in separate html files for every school and category I need and then try to parse html to get the info.

College Football - Statistics - Rivals.com

This is the best, IMO, for relatively recent data. Their database only goes back to 2003.

It copies and pastes into Excel as well as any source I've found.

Just be sure to check all tabs - Offense, Passing, Rushing, etc.
There are certain stats only available on certain tabs. For example, sacks allowed only show up on the Passing stats page.

You may want to contact the guy who runs that site and ask if he'll give you a feed.

Or, maybe someone can just place the archives in a web accessible directory for you, and you can use wget or some other utility to fetch the data for you when they're updated.

Here's the link to wget. I use this for a real-time weather GIS package I developed:
