This message came to me through a couple of people but I had to share this story with my fellow BAMA fans. My oldest son has a friend who works at Linville Ridge Golf Club near Boone, NC (my home city). The Shula family either belong to the club or they have a home there (or both) because my son's friend sees them often at the golf course during the summer months.

A few weeks back, my son's friend went to work in a Georgia t-shirt and he ran into the Shula men (Don, David, and Mike). Of course, CMS made a comment about the shirt and told him that he should be a BAMA fan. My son's friend said, "You sound like my a friend of mine and his family" (he was referring to my family). "My friend and his family are huge BAMA fans". Coach Mike Shula told my son's friend, "You tell your friend's family that it will be another good year in Tuscaloosa".

When my son's friend relayed that story to me, I could not help but think about how much I appreciate Coach Shula. You have to love the enthusiasm and optimism that CMS exudes. My son's friend also talked about how nice CMS is and how he always takes time to learn the names of those who assist him at the golf course. It's easy to see why he is such a great recruiter and why he will be a great coach for our beloved TIDE.

Sorry for such a long post but I thought you would enjoy hearing this story. I just hope I'm lucky enough to run into Coach Shula during one of his visits to the Boone area.

We never expect anything less than a "good year" . At Bama though , "good" has a higher standard .

I'm pobably in the middle age group of TideFans posters and I feel sorry for all of the younger fans that missed out on the 1970's under Bear . The "Bama mind-set" was incredible . The younger fans of today just wouldn't understand the expectations or how seasons were viewed .

It was like this .......

Good - 12-0 , National Champions

Good but , dissappointing - 11-1

Average - 10-2 , win the Sugar Bowl

The very mention of a 9-3 record was viewed as an obvious attempt at humorous sarcasm .

RTR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :BigA:
