...considering I have been one of the idiots who knows best for everyone and called for Kines' head, I found this quote and thought it slapped me in the face. It really says a lot.

The more I see this subject come up, the more I believe the Tide nation is pretty much evenly divided into two camps when it comes to Coach Kines--One thinks he hung the moon and can do no wrong and is the second coming of Bill Oliver, and the other wants to blame him for everything up to and including possibly the death of Jesus Christ. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle....Don't you think???
 
I think it's more one sided than that. I have to believe that there are many more intelligent people that follow the Tide who realize what kind of restrictions we've been under and that Coach Kines deserves better than he's been given by a small bunch of hammer heads. This is a great quote Bowens has given us and should be taken to heart in regards to all facets of a person's life. The subject on Coach Kines head should be dropped. It's counter productive, non-supportive crap perpetuated by pimps.
 
Exactly, a card player shouldn't be judged until he has had a chance to play from the same deck as his competitors. I don't believe anyone thinks CJK "hung the moon" or is the "second coming of CBO". He is just a coach that is trying his best to help Bama get past some troubled times, has the respect of our HC and deserves that same respect and support from us. If Bams's D ain't kicking butt and taking names by '07 or '08.............................?????
 
Coach Kines is dealing with the same thing the other Tide coaches are dealing with.
Rebuilding a TEAM.
Coach Kines might not be a defensive genius, but neither are any of us.
So I give him credit for being loyal to Coach Shula and hopefully doing his absolute best to stop immature play and poor fundamental play.
I'm behind the coaches, because now still isn't the time to expect a beheading when Alabama loses.
That being said, I only doubt Kines on his conservative in-game adjustments.
I think too little is done in the way of aggressive attacking on the part of the defense so far. CMS wants a smarter defense.
I want a really mean one.

As the numbers go back up, I'm reasonably sure any decent defensive coach could do pretty well at Alabama.
My guess is, CMS won't replace Coach Kines until he feels he's no longer doing well with the talent pool back to normal ('08?).
I think all the coaches get a little more leeway until at least the first two strings are solid at every position (2006?), and injuries make that longer then just mathematics ('07).
If Alabama has another losing season with barely above average defensive play, it'd stand to reason that Kines' would be the one replaced...same holds true for offense.
 
Considering the wake left with his departure, I personally could do without the second coming of BO.

I don't think those who defend Coach Kines are doing it because they think he's the best thing since sliced bread, I think they do it because they just wanna be fair. They also realize that he wouldn't be where he is or have the resume he has unless he knew a little bit about football.

All the self-annointed football whizzes need to realize that there's a reason Coach Kines is making a dang good living in major college football and they're not. If they have all the answers as they think they do, then they missed their calling.

Once we get back to a full complement of SEC talent will be the time to judge him, but not when he's got one hand tied behind his back. If there's no improvement after we're back to full strength, I assure you that you'll have plenty of company calling for a change. But we need to be fair first.
 
If you are gonna ride the train you must own a ticket. BAMA has been short 21 tickets and it shows. When your LBs are not only leading the team in tackles but in some cases making over 20 tackles a game, it points to lack of talent on the D-Line. That also puts you in a bind regarding secondary. It all starts with control of the line of scrimmage and your ability to pass rush.

If the level of play does not improve on defense as the season progresses there will be changes. Until those changes occur he is the DC of the Crimson Tide and therefore my coach!

All those who have defended Joe Kines have done so for all the right reasons. Coach Kines has been a whipping boy by all those who want a different kind of defense or simply want something to gripe about. Coach Kines has been able to stay employed in the Division 1 ranks for 25 years at mostly premier institutions. If he carried the reputation some here has given him he would be selling Cell Phones on the internet.

I will bet gold nuggets against belly button lint that as soon as the season begins there will be some of the same talking heads making their cracks about the team and coaches. If we win there will be some incredulous instance cannot be tolerated. If we lose there will be fingers pointing blame. Some simply HAVE to have something to gripe about. If it isn't Joe Kines it's the kicker or the special teams or the offensive playcalling or the OL or the fans sitting around them or the band or the shape of the field or the weather or the announcers or the color of the jerseys or the opponenets fans or the referees or the time of the game or the side they have to sit on or those thugs we were playing against or when all else fails, it was the AD's fault.

For the life of me, I Can't understand the coach Kines bashing. Everyone agrees that the sec is a super tough conference. But when a man has to come in and Coach,In a tough conference like the sec,With limited players to work with,There's always those few that call for his head. Lets treat Coach Kines like we would want to be treated. It seems so obvious to me that you can't judge his ability to coach against the sec until he has as much players and talent as the rest of the sec. It's just not fair to him.
 
I hope everyone understands my post. I'm not bashing Coach Kines. I have in the past and as I stated, this quote hit me between the eyes. How can I complain when I'm not out there putting in the time. Doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. Just means I haven't earned the right to shout that opinion from the mountain top or in this case the desk top.
