It's amazing that they were able to keep this store open for so many years in downtown. They are the last of the "90+ years in downtown" stores to close. Pizitiz, Parisian's, etc. and now Bromberg's. Sad to see.

Bromberg & Co., which has operated a jewelry store in downtown Birmingham for nearly 110 years, closed its retail location on 20th Street on Friday, saying the recession has worsened long-term trends working against the site.

They are, though, going to keep their corporate headquarters at that address. Of course they won't sell merchandise there, which also means they won't have to pay B'ham's extra sales taxes on all those fine jewelry items. :wink:
