Good post. Y'all have a good team but in my objective opinion as long as there are teams like Stanford, Bama and even Fla State y'all will have a very hard time winning it all. You could see it in the UCLA game and it was more than obvious in last nights game. Y'all's offense and defense struggles against traditional style power/physical teams. It's cool to see the "blur" offense against weaker teams but I just don't think it can make hay against the more physical style teams. Tapatalk

Every year, the media and a vast majority of college football fandom are mezmerized by the Ducks flashy offense, and time after time they go down at the hands of a team that plays physical, ball control power football. Heck, AU's defense during their BCS run was mediocre by SEC standards, yet good enough to allow $Cam & Co. to play keep away.

I'm not saying that Oregon could never beat Bama - the Ducks have weapons and would present matchup problems. However, Bama would have to shoot themselves in the foot (turnovers, special teams blunders, etc.) to get beat. Nice post and a classy thread stared by our duck visitor. I think the Quack Attack is good for college football. The loud unis and the fast paced, high scoring offenses they have fielded over the past few years add a tremendous amount to our game. But speed and finesse teams will always come up short against defensive oriented teams with discipline and good running games. That is how this sport was built and the fundamental formula for success.

I still don't believe FSU will finish undefeated. Baylor too. We may not be undefeated. November just got started. There's still a lot of football left. The NC possibility is still open for a lot of teams including Oregon. If you don't believe this, you did not watch the last few years of college football.

The hurry up, read option stuff is cute. Cute, but there's no getting around getting man handled at the point of attack. When the D tackle blows up the guard, it doesn't matter what the QB read - the play is doomed. Oregon gave up on even trying to run the ball last night.

That kicker is good. If Oregon had gotten that last on-side kick, the game could have turned out differently. With the way that ball was bouncing, I didn't think Stanford would be able to recover it/catch it.

Posts like this remind us that there are some very good people out there pulling for every college football program. That is the thought that keeps me from "celebrating" the defeat of teams like Oregon. Sure, a lot of blow hards were shut up last night, but they will be back. But folks like OreGUN were also impacted by the loss, and I feel for them.

Only one fan base will be really happy at the end of this ride, but I don't celebrate the sadness created for the rest (with only a few exceptions )

They were undefeated, ranked in the top-ten, and cruising when they lost to 3-2 N.C. State last year.
Florida State is... Florida State. They also have a freshman quarterback, who while supremely talented, hasn't really had to deal with adversity yet, so I would not put it past them to get caught up in the moment like the Ducks.

To the OP... thanks for the kind words, and know that there is hope. I saw a number of posts from Duck fans on Facebook that seemed to be coming to the realization that y'all need some beef and power along the line of scrimmage to be truly competitive on a national stage.

If you don't mind I will offer an opinion, the Gators are a completely different team when they play FSU, just last year showed you that. Doesn't the ACC have a championship game? That could be your next one.

I've got to say that Tidefans is such a great board that it attracts the best from other teams if these two are an example. I love talking college football to other non-Bama fans but around here in Orangeland their ignorance often wins through and they get really stupid.

Thanks for the posts guys. The season is far from over. I remember last year after A&M beat us in Tuscaloosa, it was like a morgue but just one week later the football gods were looking after us and Kansas and the Ducks lost in their respective games so we went on to the NC vs ND. I am sure both Kansas and Oregon would have given us a much more competitive game than the Irush.

They lost to NC State last year -- unranked (and Tennessee beat the tar out of NC St). I know they're a different team but I wouldn't be surprised if they trip up. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if we trip up on one ourselves. I never expect undefeated as that requires a bit of luck to go along with the great play a team needs to get there.
