Ah, Florida - words fail me II

A Florida doctor has been indicted in connection with the death of a 70-year-old man who had the wrong organ removed during surgery
Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky, 44, was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of second-degree manslaughter in the August 2024 death of the man of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the Office of the State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit said.
Prosecutors allege that on Aug. 21, 2024, during what was scheduled to be a laparoscopic splenectomy, Shaknovsky accidentally removed the victim's liver instead of his spleen. The move resulted in "catastrophic blood loss and the patient’s death on the operating table," a press release said.

Why did it take so long? I remember when it happened and this butcher has been at it for 30 years. I don't think I could make that mistake and I only know my way around the innards of a whitetail deer...

Florida Man doesn’t ask for permission.

He just straps on a jet-propelled hoverboard, hooks up his dog to a jet ski, and goes for a Sunday cruise like it’s completely normal.

This is why the rest of the country will never understand us.

Peak Florida. Never change.
My man! That's how the Free State of Florida rolls. We may also throw a live gator through a drive thru window. That part isn't as good.

I don't know much, but I am quite confident one or both of the following are true:

One, the dude is Professor Emeritus of Applied Marine Engineering at Redneck Tech.

Two, someone said, "I bet you can't do this," and the professor responded, "Hold my beer."

Little gator Gabby and I rescued off a golf course five years ago! We spent four hours trying to rescue this little guy!
If you’re wondering why he couldn’t be left there, someone called it in, and once reported nuisance gators are shot and killed 99.99% of the time. Please understand that if you call in a nuisance gator it will almost always be killed, the state kills 8,000 each year. In this case we were able to work with the local trapper and bring the gator to a local wildlife facility(we didn’t have our own sanctuary yet). Nuisance gators over 4ft cannot legally be released/relocated, this one was 5’3”. Keep in mind that if you call in a gator you do not get to decide who comes for it or where it’ll go, and understand it will almost certainly be euthanized. We get lots of calls asking to come catch a specific gator and unfortunately that’s just not how the system works, we have no ability to respond directly or have any control over the situation, but thankfully we do get to work with some awesome trappers that do allow us to help out sometimes.

DeSantis: Great to be at Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee today to sign legislation to enhance our already strong laws against animal cruelty in Florida. HB 559 makes it a felony for adults to encourage minors to participate in or witness animal cruelty, increases penalties for animal fighting offenses, requires psychological treatment for juveniles who abuse animals, and expands requirements for offenders registered in the FDLE animal abuser database.

I was also proud to sign SB 1004, which expands consumer protections for pet owners by revising requirements for dog and cat sellers. This legislation protects against deceptive financing tactics, extends the timeframe for pet owners to seek remedies for sick animals, and removes caps on vet cost reimbursements. To ensure transparency, this bill also requires additional medical record disclosures so that people have access to important health information before bringing a new pet home.

In Florida, anyone who mistreats or exploits animals—or tries to defraud those who care about them—will be held accountable.

Both bills passed unanimously and signed by the governor, Excellent!
